Outstanding food and service. Simply some of the best, freshest, and most thoughtful food available anywhere! With some well-made cocktails, we shared the Dungeness crab salad as a starter, and it was superb. For our mains, I had the seafood special of scallops – excellent. My husband had the 12 ounce Duroc Pork Chop, and pronounced it simply the very best pork chop he had ever had! A delicious Oregon wine was a great accompaniment. For dessert, the lemon meringue was very good; but the Chocolate Pot au Crme had us almost licking the plate! :-)The service was flawless and the ambience was very serene.Well worth the cost!
I went here about a week ago, and had wonderful meals here! The corn soup is in my opinion: the world’s best soup. It has a buttery, corn sweet flavor, and a spicy onion and corn salsa that balanced it perfectly. Also their cinnamon rolls and whole wheat pancakes that they have are to die for. If you stay overnight the rooms and staff are wonderful. A great place overall!
Love this place!. The restaurant is wonderful. They have delicious food and an awesome wine list. I have gone here countless times with my friends, for a relaxing night out. The summer cocktail menu is fun and inventive, and the sliders from the bar menu are my favorite. The Inn itself is beautiful. I’ve had the pleasure of staying in a number of the rooms and they are perfect for a get-away. The staff is friendly and make you feel right at home. I definitely recommend the Winchester!
Best in Ashland. Had dinner here a few weeks ago with my fiance. An outstanding evening. We order the scallops to start, which were perfectly cooked. I had a caesar salad and the lady a green salad with beets. I liked her’s more. Thought the caesar was ok, but nothing special. However, when we got our entrees my jaw dropped. I ordered the filet and my fiance the rack of lamb, and both were not just pretty to look at, but utterly delicious. To top it all off, they had some really fantastic cocktails, and a staggering wine list. It might not be an every night type of place, but it is hands down the finest meal I have ever had in Ashland. I can’t wait to come back.
Unbelievable. We went here for our 14 year anniversary for the first time tonight after reading previous reviews and were highly impressed with every aspect of the dinner. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The wine list was very extensive, although the wine by the glass list was not, it was still satisfactory. We started out with the Crab cake with candied bacon and the bacon just melted in your mouth. Every texture and taste was wonderful. We both ordered the Ribeye with Lobster and twice baked potato. Everything from the presentation to the flavor was divine. I highly recommend this for a special night out.
Best dinner I have had all year!. My mother and I ate dinner at the Winchester for our New Years Eve celebration- and it was perfect! We started with 2 appetizers (scallops on whipped turnips & the mushrooms with gnocchi). The flavors of both dishes were so good- not too overwhelming but very flavorful and fresh. (the mushrooms were my favorite). For dinner I had the crab cantelloni and my mother had the steak with lobster to top it off. Both were cooked to perfection- neither was over or underdone. The flavors were equisite and the presentation of both dishes were beautiful. The vegetables looked more like art than food. I rarely go out to eat and spend over $15 for dinner because I am usually dissapointed- but every penny of out New Years dinner was worth it. I can’t wait to see what’s on the menu next. The waitstaff was also wonderful and knowledgable and helped me pick the perfect white wine to go with my dish. The atmosphere is cozy, quiet and comfortable. Chef billy Buscher has a great thing going and anyone would be crazy not to give the Winchester a try if they love good tasty food:)
My husband and I visited The Winchester Inn for our final dinner of 2010. As the other reviewer stated, the food and ambience is truly extraordinary and I believe is the culinary secret gem of Ashland! We have eaten there many times through the years, but this meal was fabulous. I started with oysters on the half shell and we then shared the butternut squash soup and special salad of the night. My husband had crab canneloni and I had the Manilla clam linguini. To top it all off, we split the chocolate fudge cake! I am telling you, everything was absolutely delicious, perfectly prepared and plated and reasonably priced and friendly excellent service! Check it out soon.
