I love diners and burger joints. I have to say I am disappointed with my dining experience. This popular place did not give me a great first impression: the smell of old cooking oil permeated the dining area. Their standard fare of burgers and shakes was decent, but unremarkable. Several items listed on the menu were not available. Portions are huge. The cost seemed steep for the quality and type of food. We spent $45 for sandwiches, fries and drinks for 4.
Better than average diner. With fairly recent change in ownership, the menu is revamped, but still centers around a Mexican flavour. Burgers are really good, but the burritos are even better.
Great food and awesome staff.. I’ve been going to Big Al’s for years now and i can say they are one of the best burger joints around. Al the owner is awesome as well, always personable, friendly and makes it a fun place to go to. The food is heavenly with my only complaint being that the burger patties can run a little thin so if you truly want to be satisfied, it’s best to get at least a double patty burger. The fries are the best in the valley by far though, so yummy.
This place is clean, reasonably priced & delicious. Burgers are great, special sauce is tasty but the tamales are my favorite.
Big Al’s Rules!!!. After seeing the great reviews on here before our trip, the kids and I had to check-out Big Al’s before leaving Ashland. So glad we did!! The service WAS outstanding, and the burgers and shakes even MORE outstanding! I love the sauce they use on them…it has a mustard base, and is sooo tasty!!! Wow….and you know the place is good, if it’s where all the policemen go to get lunch!! 🙂

Delicious flautas and super friendly service! No ambience, but definitely a favorite with the locals…we were the only tourists there!
