Happy!. I Love The Black Sheep! It is England and America and All Ashland and Wonderful, Wonderful! We meet there all the time as our office annex, they remember us, they remember we are wheat free, gluten free, dairy free and meat free… they remember how we like our cosmos and our guys like their beer… they Always take Great Care of us, Remarkable Food! Pub Grub. Having lived most of my life in the UK there is something comforting about the Black Sheep and its take on the British Pub. We called in for lunch and the service was prompt and friendly. The food was as described – nothing more nothing less. The only down side were 3 guys and a girl who arrived and were obviously already over the limit. Their behavior and bad language was totally out of place at lunch time…… Don’t let this put you off…just be aware it can happen!11 Oct, 2010Black Sheepish. I have eaten here several times and I am English so uniquely qualified……. You will find many traditional English dishes on the menu but sadly they are a pale imitation of the real thing….okay the Heinz baked beans from the tin are authentic. Order the English Strongbow cider with fish and chips while watching the footy on TV….and its as close to an English pub as you will find in Southern Oregon…….
A great place to meet up. I haven’t had any of the food at the Black Sheep, but their drink selection is decent and the atmosphere is great. The times I went (in the winter) there was always a wood-burning fireplace making the whole pub smell great, and the real cork dartboards are a great attraction. Overall it was just what I wanted to be to meet up with friends from the area when I’m in from out of town.
Mixed reviews. We were unsure how to feel about the place before we went in. I read reviews saying it was terrible and food was either good or bad depending on the day. We went in on a Thursday night and the staff was friendly and food was good. It’s pub food, so I wasn’t expecting an extravagant meal, but the portions are good and it’s tasty. The drinks were good too. I don’t know if we got them on a good night or if people are just crazy but, I liked it.
BIZARRE. The decor is full of British memorabilia but the food is NOT British. The chef has perhaps seen a pub menu but never eaten in a pub. The steak and kidney pie was a travesty . Fish pie usually contains fish. The waiter did take the fish pie off the bill, but the meal was a real disappointment.
Love it! Great vegetarian and traditional options in a fun environment.
Food is authentically British. Bland. Great beers with variety. Excellent view of the plaza. Go there for drinks. Not food.
