Lark’s has no sparks.. I had lunch at Lark’s today. It was very disappointing. I had the Fish and Chips. The chips were just luke warm. And many or most very short. Like you would find if you bought the real cheap stuff at a discount store. I asked for some ketchup. A large thimble size serving was brought to me. I would need at least three of these for the meal. The fish was good tasting. But if was served high on a pile of chips. You couldn’t cut into it the way it was served. You had to use your fingers and then the fish would slid out of the breading. All in all it was very disappointing. I will not return.

Inconsistency is Disappointing. I’m a little bummed to be giving this place three stars. It started out SO well, with our delicious, fresh Littleneck clams appetizer, and the freaking delightful vanilla glazed beets and goat cheese croquette. Nice atmosphere, comfortable seats, good people watching, killer art deco bar.The service was fantastic until we ordered our main courses and the waitress became a ghost. Granted we were there towards the end of service, but there were at least 15 people in there, and the staff seemed more concerned with clocking out than wrapping things up with the guests. The real disappointment was the seared Petrale Sole main, which the husband ordered from the regular menu. Sole is a very delicate fish, and this concoction’s huckleberry/thyme beurre blanc was much closer to a syrup that ruined the entire thing. It even turned the creamy white sole into a grayish-purpley mess. Oh, and his fingerling potatoes were over-salted. Who does that? However! My Ono special was amazingly good. Pea pure, fingerling potatoes, seared cauliflower, enoki mushrooms, and a perfect medium Ono. The little deconstructed apple crisp we had for dessert was only okay. Too much crumble, not enough substance. The fact that they bought it for us for our anniversary was pretty swell, though. We’ll probably give it another try, but only because we really want to stay in the hotel the restaurant is attached to (Ashland Springs Hotel), and the bar does seem killer…

Karen’s sister’s favorite restaurant in Ashland. A little expensive but always good.

OK- When It’s Open. Excellent place for a drink. When it’s open. Decent but overpriced place for lunch. When it’s open. For dinner it’s OK (but there are better places). When it’s open. That’s the problem. It’s not open after the afternoon play, after the movie, after the evening play. Most hotel restaurants are open for the convenience of the guests and/or tourists and visitors. Larks seems to be open for the convenience of Larks.

Amazing!. My boyfriend took me to Larks on Valentines day for a n incredible dinner. We started off with the dungeness crab and 6 cheese fondu which was delicious. I had one of the specials, the panko crusted scallops with spinach and fennel on top of polenta. It was like heaven. Every bite was flavorful and amazing. He had the roasted tomato gnocchi, which I tried and I also loved. The staff was friendly, attentive, and the place ran very well. No complaints. We even got to take home the leftovers and enjoy them the next day. It’s pricey but definitely worth it for a place like that.
