Unreal. The staff there are unbelievably rude and cruel. the food was good when they first opened. not anymore. avoid. here’s what went down: after two years of loyal ruby’s burrito eating i have to confess that todays experience was the worst i’ve had in a restaurant in my life. probably, in all honesty, i won’t go back again. here’s what happened: i went in, and right off the bat i could tell that the staff was having an off day. everyone looked grumpy. when it was my turn i stepped up and ordered what i usually order, a veggie burrito with a little meat, no onions. it’s been my go-to lunch since they opened. and, typically, it’s an easy write up. but, the new girl seemed frustrated and upset so i tried to walk her through it, and at a moment of weakness i said, out loud, ‘it’s never been this hard to write up before…’ to which she got very angry and said, ‘well, excuse me. i’m trying to write this down and figure out what to charge you and that’s not easy. so yeah.’ and then angrily rang me up and shoved the number across the counter at me. at this point the other staff person, an older women, chimed in with her and they began talking about me to each other in this weird stage whisper, so i could hear them, about how rude i was. i sat there, on the side, disbelieving that they would engage in such a conversation while i was waiting, right there. but, i stayed, having paid for my food. when it was finally ready i asked the older woman if i had done something to upset them and she snapped at me that they were trying to do their job and i made it harder by being so rude. i was astounded. so i asked the other girl what the deal was, and how i could make it right and instead of talking to me like a person she launched into how i had been exceptionally rude and how she didn’t have to tolerate that. how i was not welcome in their shop and how i needed to ‘take your burrito and get the hell out.’ stunned, i walked away. at the door i turned back, and they both said, loudly, ‘oh great, here we go!’ and then started yelling at me to just get the hell out. when i asked to see the owner, calmly, i was told that he’d defend them as he ‘stands up for himself to rude people like you.’ keep in mind that my only offense was a careless assertion that it hadn’t been that hard to write down my order before. that was it. and not even in a snappy, rude way, just offhand. sigh. at any rate… at that point i was shaking and humiliated and felt victimized and bullied. by the staff of a restaurant no less, where we are supposed to be at least treated with a welcoming tone. so i left. but, sitting in my car, i realized that i couldn’t eat that burrito and wanted my money back. so, i asked a passerby to please get my money for me. thankfully she did, and after ten minutes, she came out and gave me my cash. honestly, i feel completely bullied and humiliated, and a little bit angry. even if i had been shouting and rude and awful (which wasn’t the case, i never raised my voice or asserted anything that wasn’t in the bounds of civil discourse) i wouldn’t expect them to be so completely outrageous in their treatment of me. and what’s worse, they dragged other customers into the conversation. totally unprofessional and, dare i say it, insane. overall, i have to say that this experience has colored my feeling about ruby’s and i doubt there is any way i’d ever go back. good luck to the owners who just had a baby. i know that they haven’t been in much lately, but, maybe they should be there more often. judging from what happened today i bet they’d be glad to know what’s up and make any changes necessary to prevent further customer alienation.

No stars for this place. Only giving em one cause I have to. If you have to eat here, make sure you get a burrito so you can’t see what you’re eating. I ordered a scramble with additions. They served me some browned over cooked, over hard eggs with my bacon bits and various size slices of jalapeo. This pretentious hippie joint even looks like they get their potatoes and avocados frozen from Costco or something. Asked to have my eggs done the way I like them. Got my plate back and everything still looked the same. Pretty sure it was the same food. Saw the waitress bad mouth me to the cook. Never again.
Arrived at three past 11 to find that burritos and sandwiches were my only breakfast options. Maybe it’s just miscategorized, but I supposed I expected a breakfast/brunch destination to have an egg an toast option past 11. Or at all, for that matter.
