I have been doing a Ramen restaurant survey so felt like I needed to go here since it is an import from Japan. There was a wait on the day I was there but they give you a buzzer so you can shop at nearby stores in this strip mall. The soup was very intense, I got the extra garlicky one. My daughter didn’t like it as much as I did. She prefers to add her own garlic till its just right for her. I thought it was great. Service was fast food quality. The side of fried vegetables I got was a bit soggy. They are very busy so I didn’t expect much. Tons of parking. Near Bethany so different crowd then most east side Portland places.
Not our favorite Japanese, but our fav in Portland. We reserved and had good table service. The Yuzu Shio Ramen was very palatable but not excellent. It was excellent for what it was, what it used, how things were well prepared but for someone who doesn’t love the cuisine, this won’t enamor you. It is a great change of pace and interesting. Nothing wrong here, just, well you get it.
Great food, amazing staff! Whenever my boyfriend and I are looking for ramen we don’t have to travel all the way to SE. This is just a short hop from our house. Definitely recommend!
On a rainy Portland day, ramen is perfect comfort food. I really liked the garlic, rich broth of my Garlic Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen. The Ramen was dente which I liked. The pork bun and potato croquettes were also tasty starters. The server was helpful and efficient. I enjoyed sitting at the counter listening to the Japanese being spoken in the food prep area. We did have to wait to get seated.
This was an anticipated visit because we have seen lines of people trying to get in. So we decided to give it a try and the four of us went in and ordered several items on the menu.The chicken wing appetizer looked good and the sauce on the outside was very good, however some of the chicken was undercooked. The pork steam buns were half pork and half fat. We each ordered some variation of the ramen bowls. Good, but I’m not sure what all the standing in line is all about. It’s boiled chicken in miso broth with some veggies. There are a lot of places I’ve gone to where waiting in line for a hour or so is the price you pay for admission. This is not one of those places. Maybe ten minutes, but no more. Service was okay, nothing special.
