In terms of bagels, it’s pretty much take it or leave it when it comes to Bend. This place is popular, but it’s not on par with a Einstein Brothers or Bruegger’s. Their bagels aren’t anything greater than what you’d find at Safeway.
What a DISAPPOINTMENT.. When I walked into Big-O-Bagels, I have to say the creativity of the bagel shaped tables as well as the hot dogs wrapped in homemade bagels was quite unique and attractive. So, when I saw that a bagel with lox, cream cheese, capers, tomatoes and onions was $6.50 I assumed that the care that they put into their other attributes would result in a quality product. Unfortunately, the bagel came open faced with ONE small piece of lox on each side, ONE small cut of tomato on each side, and very few capers.To get into the quality of the bagel isn’t worth my time. Maybe stick to their hot dog wrapped bagels and try another bagel place for quality bagels and something worth your money.
Delicious. This place is the bomb! They have the best bagels in town. I recommend trying their breakfast sandwiches but they have many different kinds of bagels and awesome flavored cream cheeses too. My kids love the vanilla cream cheese and chocolate chip bagels. Everything is very good! Not mention its a welcoming environment and they have really great customer care. The girls who work there are always really nice and happy. They are super fast. Even when it’s busy, I have never had to wait longer than 5 minutes to get my food. You can order and be out of there so fast which is nice in the morning on the way to work or school or the mountain or whatever you are doing. The best deal though is the day old bags of bagels// if you get in there in time to grab a big full bag of bagels for super cheap then it will be the best day.
Diff between locations?. We usually frequent the Galveston Avenue location for our bagel fix; this time we were on the on south end of town, so popped in the 3rd Street location.When we got home (5 hours away on the coast) and took out a couple of bagels to enjoy, it seemed like they were just bread in a bagel shape . . . hmmmmmmmm.
I wish it wasn’t cash only. Its a bit hard to swallow that even today some stores are still cash only, but this place is worth the trip to the 7-11 next door. The bagels are nothing shy of impressive and the lattes are super yummy. They are a little slow, but its worth the wait.
