Long time Bend steakhouse that’s a pillar of the downtown restaurant scene. It has the feeling of a place you’d see in Jackson Hole. Food is good and wine list is better. My wife prefers this place at night as the ambience is best later at night. Occasional band will play in the bar on select evenings.

We were visiting from out of town a big family reunion and had a nice night out at the blacksmith. The ahi tuna with rice was surprisingly good and the ribeye was also very good. Drinks were excellent and the service was great. While we were just visiting, I’m going to look for an excuse to go back

Bananas Foster – AMAZING. The dessert to beat all desserts. Rich, flavorful, and fun! The table side preparation took this from great to the BEST! A perfect 10!

Agree with the other poster that if Bend were a restaurant it would be the Blacksmith. I was surprised to hear it had closed down and re-opened. I’m not sure why– it seemed like the same place we always love coming to when we visit. Charming, ambience-filled, affable evening provided by excellent wait staff, bartender, and chef, right down to the table-side bananas foster and a zesty martini.

The Blacksmith sucks. First off, this website says that entrees are $15-25. The truth is they are all $35 plus, and thats ONLY for steak. Anything else you may want for a meal is extra. This is a seriously dark gothic looking restaurant. I felt like I was in some sort of S & M den. But that aside, I’ve gone twice in the last few months. The first time, my gold plated steak was so riddled with gristle I nearly vomited. I thought I’d try to go back to be fair. My fiance and I went for Friday night cocktails and we had to hunt the waiter down for a menu. Then he brought us tequila we asked about but didn’t order. When we said something, instead of just being gracious he said he could pour it back in the bottle. Is this standard operating procedure for one of the most expensive restaurants in town? How many people tried something and didn’t like it so they sent it back to get poured back in the bottle? That is so disgusting I can’t imaging going back. I think for the money I could go to a way cozier place like the Trattoria Sbandati, or the Brickhouse.

Great Beer and Food!. What a beer selection! The food was fantstic, as was the service. Everyone was wonderful from start to finish. I’ll be back for sure. Don’t miss out on this one.
