Who doesn’t want business these days??? Just tried to place an order with The Cake Lady almost a month in advance and they turned me down without even asking what I wanted. What if it was 1 cupcake?? They are either severely understaffed or doing extremely well and not in need of business. Not a good first impression.
ABOVE A BEYOND. I gave The Cake Lady an unusualrequest for a birthday cake I was having made for a very special friend. Not only did she enthusiastically get into the concept I had in mind but she added her own creativity to make it work and it was absolutely wonderful. She was great fun to work with. The cake was delicious!!!!!!
Amazing Cake Art. She did a Groundhog Day Birthday Cake that was an amazing piece of art and delicious even though it was almost too beautiful to eat.
Disappointed. The cake decor, mediocre…The flavor was supposed to be super chocolate with a chocolate ganache, It was not very sweet……….but the reason for the one star is customer service.Five months before my wedding I sent The Cake lady a photo of the exact cake I wanted asking if she would be able to create something like the photo (I was planning a wedding from out of state). She said she could. We then spoke on the phone and it was a go.Anyone who is planning a wedding knows how dependent you are on your vendors, especially from another state. My mother who lives in the same town as The Cake Lady went into her shop several times with the cake photo in hand to go over everything, in detail.Three weeks before the wedding we were told that the plum blossoms would have to be ordered from France for an additional $200.00. We were stunned and a bit panicked…..This was a small wedding of 65 people and already the cake was at the high end of what we had budgeted for. The Cake Lady said that she has thought we wanted carnations on the cake. Carnations??? Again I was stunned. 5 months of communication and 3 weeks before the wedding to have something like this come up was…well… bad business. I was upset..referenced the e-mail from 5 months before. There was no apology, no taking responsibility for the error, no effort to remedy the situation. Instead The Cake Lady threatened to cancel the order.I run a business myself and cannot imagine treating a client in this manner because clients are what make my business what it is.I don’t recommend The Cake Lady, especially for weddings….
Cake Lady is very kind!. This woman knows how to bake and I can’t wait to try something other than the coconut cupcakes filled with Bavarian creme. Folks, it’s all about those coconut cupcakes. Can I get a hell yeah?
Amazing cakes (by slice too), cupcakes, cookies, and petit-fours. Awesome bavarian creme and chocolate ganache fillings. Really good coffee/espresso too (you don’t give up coffee quality because it’s a dessert shop). Friendly, clean, free wifi – all around great spot for dessert ad coffee! (Beautiful cakes too.)
