Very creative beer options, too creative food options. Balance, balance, balance. These are issues of taste. Any of the strong flavors introduced would be terrific…the figs that were boldly fresh and wrapped in soft bacon, the candied pumpkin, brown with spices, the coco-vinagrette muddled and deep. All that said, the weight of all these richly infused flavors had a tendency to send me swimming in muck, it was overkill. There was nothing plated that would wash the palate, there was nothing that wasn’t screaming…taste THIS!! The beers were also heavily weighted with their ale-y, hoppy goodness, even the saison which is usually lighter, wasn’t. Maybe this cuisine works well when stepping off the slope after a exhausting, quad burning, full day but that wasn’t us and we couldn’t lighten the meal with anything on the plate or menu. Everywhere you looked on this menu was a few kilos, appetizers, mains, desserts, brews menu, heavy, man, heavy. I don’t see how it can suit a diversified party, but hungry twenty-something guys who have experimental palates will love it…are there enough of those? That said, the wait staff was very nice, the sunset views (from the parking lot…that should have been thought out better!) are AMAZING. The whole atmosphere was fun and cultured beer joint-y. I know lots of people love this place and I can see why. And I think the menu is on the right track but it needs work to move more to the middle, and have some small plates that work with beers that drink like food.
Yummy!. Beer is awesome, food is delicious and service fantastic. Friendly atmosphere and dog-friendly patio seating. Can’t wait to go back.
