I have distinct expectations if I am going to pay for 8.00+ for a quality hamburger. Number 1 is that the burger should use fresh hamburger. The hamburger I had here used a single frozen Patty that was flavorless. The flavor of the sandwich came from the toppings. The Tator Tots were overcooked. Couldn’t get a pop because it was out of co2 and it had no fizz. I rate the burger equivalent to Carl’s JrBut the meal cost a lot more.
My quest for great wings in Bend continues. This time it is Hardy’s. Anyone who has read my reviews on wings knows that there are three things that I look for in my chicken wings; they must not be breaded, there should be a good amount of sauce, and the sauce must have heat and flavor. Hardy’s does well on these counts so I will start out saying I give them an A for effort and so far they are the only wings I have had so far that are worth going back for. There are some areas of improvement though. I got two heat levels of wings, extra hot and their signature freakin’ hot. The freakin hot is exactly that and I would say it is a novelty, something to challenge the machismo in any person. The sauce itself though is too hot for me to really enjoy which is saying a lot!. It seemed to me to be many degrees above the extra hot. The extra hot wings were good but there is a serious issue with both of the sauces, they are FULL of oil. I’m talking like Gulf oil slick levels of grease. It separated out of the rest of the sauce in the xtra hot wings so I was able to get mostly sauce on the wings and I was happy with that. I think I got too much of the grease with the freakin hot wings and it gave me a bit of a tummy ache. If the grease pool wasn’t there I would score these wings higher but I will definitely go back, especially considering the luck (or lack thereof) of finding decent wings anywhere else at this point.
