Pretty good fried oyster Po’Boy. Coulda put a few more oysters on the sandwich. Good beer on tap. Service is kinda slow but the people are nice. Casual and open atmosphere.

I was very impressed with restaurant Eat. I experienced excellent service, atmosphere, and above all else delicious food at a reasonable price and decent serving size. I went on a Thursday night and they were playing my favorite Motown music. The only cons I have are how I wished they stayed open later than 10:00pm and the lighting could be a little more brighter/warmer, not really cons, but that’s the only improvements I can think of.

I went to EaT for the first time on 6/22/15 with my friend, who had never been there before either. First, oyster shy people should not shy away from this place! They have plenty of great food that doesn’t involve oysters (although I think you should put on your big girl panties and try some oysters). Second, the oysters are great. My friend and I started out with a couple of drinks, oysters on the half shell, and I had the Cajun Shooter. Wow, that was some good, peppery vodka! It was perfect. Then we had the Fried Pickle Chips (crispy outside, very flavorful, and the ranch looked very homemade and was fantastic), and Crispy Goat Cheese and Crawfish Croquettes (two croquettes – not what I expected, but really yummy – and a large, tasty salad). Then we split the Crawfish & Andoullie Mac n Cheese. That was phenomenal. It’s a good thing we split it, because it was so rich! The service was wonderful – the waiter was helpful, cheerful, and prompt. He had a great sense of humor, and he got our order perfectly. The food was all very good, done right. I can’t wait to go there again the next time I’m in the area!

The Real Thing. My first time in Portland from the East Coast and what do I find? The best southern food ever (I can say that, I grew up in the South). Plus, to-die-for oysters, incredible menu, super tasty food, great bar, gracious service. This place has a like-home-but-better feel to it, and the Sunday Jazz Brunch is a religious experience. The jazz is the real thing, just like everything else here. Did I mention the beignets? Perfect. If I lived in Portland, I’d be a regular at here.

Simply terrible in every way. Dishes from the kitchen have always been mediocre at best, but the oysters were usually good. Not anymore. $28 dollars for a dozen low quality oysters. Seriously?! Just to top it off the service can best be described as disinterested. There are a hundred better restaurants in town.

What’s not to like?! Great, fresh oysters. Very relaxed atmosphere. Best of all; the best oysters in Portland, period!
