Beer geekery (is that a word??!!) and astronomy geekery – together??!! Yes, please! Found this craft brewery in one of my beer hobbyist magazines and decided to give it a try on this work trip to Portlandia. Glad I did! The atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect from a fine brewery. The beer selection is great and very tasty. All beers named after some sort of astronomical something-or-other. And the menu matches it. The chicken drumsticks went well with nearly every beer in my flight. Glad I stopped in. You should, too!

Great Beer, Mixed Service. I have now been to Ecliptic on two occasions. My first trip there was very good. My friend and I each had a couple of beers and they were all terrific. I’m generally an IPA guy and their IPA didn’t disappoint. I was really impressed by the food we ordered. The wings were some of the best I’ve had in Portland. They were large, crispy, not greasy, and had an Asian-inspired light sauce. We also had a cheese plate the was delicious and well-priced for happy hour. Perhaps the best part of this visit was a very professional server, who checked on us frequently without being annoying and who was truly knowledgeable about both the beer and food menus.My second trip was not as good. The server was an inattentive young woman. I sat for close to 10 minutes waiting for her to acknowledge my presence. I’m not a small man and there weren’t that many people sitting outside. She seemed more concerned with chatting it up with her coworkers than serving the clientele. The Orbiter IPA, when it finally arrived, was delicious, but I had to wait again before she asked if I wanted another beer. While I have never sat inside, I did walk around and I liked the space. The outdoor seating is not really ideal: picnic tables that are set in a parking lot that happens to be at a bit more than a slight incline. I’m sure eventually they will build a nice deck, since the rest of the brewery is quite appealing. Since Ecliptic is within walking distance of my house, I’m sure I’ll be a regular customer. The beers are terrific and I like outdoor seating.
Great Beer With Interesting Food Offerings. I’m a big fan of Ecliptic. Really good beer, very good service, and great food. I’d put the food in the same category as Deschutes, meaning not just typical brewpub fare, they push the boundaries and always have a bunch of interesting items. Nice open, bright and modern interior. There’s also a bunch of tables outside where you can eat or drink. Lots of parking, which is a big deal in this area.
Good Atmosphere. Great friendly service, industrial with a good view, good variety of beers, awesome lamb burger and trout po’boy is amazing!! Decent prices – go for happy hour!!
Awesome beer, great atmosphere & service but mediocre food. The fries were so limp you could hold one by the base and it would fall over.
