If you can look passed the hipsters guzzling Rainier, this place is awesome. Been here a few times and while hectic at times, it never disappoints. Honey glazed, panko breaded wings are pretty damn solid. Grilled Butcher’s Steak would be a 10 if they left out the frozen peas and the ocean of sauce. Going to the trouble of grilling carrots and onions definitely negates the need for frozen peas. While the sauce is tasty, a dollop would be best served here. Overall, the place is rock solid, upbeat, and pretty cool. Oh did I say Pliny the Elder on tap? Yeah, I’ll spread the word and be back next week for some more.
Food was excellent, as were the drinks. Bartender, John Green, greeted us and explained the menu. The lamb stew and ribs were tasty . One BIG omission- entrees are served when ready. That was not mentioned. However, they were sorry not to inform us and comped the ribs because of the wait. We will return.
John nails it again. It is a neighborhood bar and unlike so many other attempts by chefs to have a bar this one is really is a bar and not a restaurant with a video game and shuffleboard table. They have very good beer and a great selection of cocktails, especially champagne and traditional cocktails. There is a lot of fun with the menu the dog of the day sounded so good I ate it despite not liking hot dogs (everything was so good it covered up the hot dog itself nicely). They also do a great job on a couple grilled fresh veggies apps (as for someone trying to eat healthier Thank You!) of course my personal favorite was the marrow bone… something about leopards and spots. Best yet that wonderful back patio is once again open.
Hmm. I’m giving this place a thumbs up, because the food and drink were done adequately. I had a great old fashioned, and a decent burbon and ginger beer. They forgot my meal and were generally just too busy for good service to actually happen, but all-in-all, a decent experience.
Meh.. Cold food, pork stock in the onion soup? Too bad, menu sounds good, but poor execution. Service was decent, but not a lot of wine options outside of bubbly.
