Btw, the sazerac is unique and delicious. Well rounded and not ‘hot’, somehow, for something that is all booze.29 May, 2012Best muthalovin clams outside the ocean. Bacon. FF. Onions. Really brothy. The fries top the clams, but when you work your way through them, not only are there fresh steamed clams with bacon bits, the sauce is rich and dark and the fries here have been soaking it up, but are still somehow crispy. Just awesome. Djs have interesting taste, and can beat-match on occasion.

The food is very good, that is the first thing I’d say because it surprised me the most; and they have an interesting menu. The wine selection is minimal, but the beer and cocktail selection is decent. You can tell it is a hangout for all sorts, at least during happy hour. The staff was really friendly, not fake.

Leading a Horse To Water. Dropped by during Happy Hour and had a Whiskey Ginger. I took my time and tried to soak in the environment. I dont know, just a little too much of a scene for my tastes. The liquor shelf is a stunning piece of craftsmanship but otherwise I thought this joint was kind of drab (kind of like the personality of the people tending bar). I see what theyre going for, it just feels a bit too-cool-for-school to me. If it were the only bar in town of its kind I might feel differently but there are certainly no shortage of high brow, scene to be seen, libations joints in Portland. It seems like a new one pops up every week. Another reviewer compared it to Rontoms, and I would agree; if half the clientele of Rontoms worked in a law office and drove BMWs instead of fixed gear bikes.Cant rate the food because I didnt try any and probably never will. Because I see no reason to come back. This being said, Im sure they will do just fine without me.Grade: eeehhh. Amazing atmosphere. It’s Rontoms meets Someday Lounge. The drinks were tasty and the staff is excellent! We will definitely be going back!
