Poor Service. Our service was very poor yesterday lunch Fe b 20th — had business clients who needed to get back to work and wewere ignored a lot of the time and had to ask for check. Food was very mediocre and salmon poor tasting. Overpriced for what is served. Nice environment just bad food and service.

I’ve heard excellent reviews of Clarklewis, so was pretty excited to have our Thanksgiving dinner there this year. Part of our family were away, so we thought we’d treat ourselves to a nice dinner out for the holiday rather than go to all the work of cooking at home. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they just weren’t up to serving a Thanksgiving feast for so many people. Otherwise I’d have to assume they aren’t that good at what they do. I hate to do this, because normally I would just say nothing if I wasn’t impressed with a restaurant. But I think they need to know. First, what was good: the parsnip soup was delicious, as was the bread. The potatoes were excellent as well. The panna cotta for dessert was also quite delicious. As for the rest of the meal…I was very surprised. The salad dressing was overly oily. The green bean casserole had the makings of a good dish, but the beans were not tender and had to be eaten whole. The dressing and sweet potatoes were just okay. But the dish that should be the centerpiece of any Thanksgiving table was a total flop. Our turkey was rare! I’ve never been served rare poultry, and it was SO rare that it was difficult to cut with a knife and fork.. There were four or five slices of underdone white meat accompanied by a large whole chunk of dark meat that would need to be cut up to be served, but there was no knife with which to cut it. My husband finally managed to whack off a piece with his table knife for my mother, who prefers dark meat. It was very, very underdone and she didn’t eat it. We were really rather amazed. The dessert arrived, and we all agreed the panna cotta tasted good, but the rest of the dessert was unremarkable. All in all, we were really rather amazed. Our family are all far better cooks than this, and next year we’ll go back to cooking our own feast.

Excellent service. Hot room.. We went to Clarklewis on a hot summer night which may have been the wrong time to go to this restaurant. As you enter, the kitchen is open and to your left with a huge fire burning in a fireplace. Oddly, it felt warmer in the restaurant than it did outside, and I noticed all the patrons were sitting as far from the kitchen as possible, probably due to the heat from the kitchen. The noise level was high at times with the windows open and several trains moving through the neighborhood one block away. However, the food was excellent – all four of us had pasta dishes that were flavorful without being heavy. What impressed us the most was the service. I haven’t been very impressed with most of the service I’ve found in Portland restaurants, but Clarklewis was a wonderful exception. Thoughtful, prompt, and quick, we felt quite pampered and well taken care of. Our server, a charming woman named Nicole, stood out for her professionalism. I will go back, but on a cooler day or on a winter day when the heat from the kitchen can be more to an advantage than a liability.

It was ok.. Pros: exotic ingredients, friendly staff, lots of bread.Cons: loud, overpriced (skip the appetizers), poor atmosphere

Save your money. Went on a Thursday for my mothers birthday. Dinner for 4. The cheese plate was 3 small pieces of 3 different kinds of cheese, a third of an apple, 6 almonds and a small biscotti slice. The salads could fit in the palm of your hand. Left more to be desired, taste wise. Nothing spectacular. My mom ordered the lamb- it was WAY too salty. My boyfriend ordered the steak with potatoes. The meat was cooked to order but the potatoes were the 6 3/4 inch cubes. My dad ordered the farfalle- it looked like a box of HamburgerHelper. I had the rabbit ragu with tagliatelle- sauce was good but the pasta could’ve used another minute cooking. The staff were very helpful and almost clairvoyant to meet our few requests and questions. For a $200+ bill, I expected to leave satisfied. It was okay, but far from amazing and we wont be coming back. I believe we all left with the best and only part of ClarkLewis- the wood smoke smell on our clothes.

Great atmosphere – excellent food. Service & drink selections were also both great.

Hip and good. This is a nice, upscale restaurant with excellent food and very good service. It’s medium pricey but definitely worth it. Great location.
