a beloved Portland institution, it hasn’t changed much at all in the decade I’ve lived here. that’s good and bad. it’s good because we need to hold onto those pubs that make good beer and stay rooted in what Portland used to be. but it’s bad in that the bathroom smells like the boys bathroom at my 7th grade son’s school if the door was glued shut for the summer. i’d rather go piss in the street and risk arrest rather than pee in their bathroom. however, at Lucky Lab the beer flows like wine, and it’s good beer. the Super Dog is worth coming in for. but I wish they could maintain the old bar feel without maintaining subpar food and middle school bathrooms. i did have a bbq sandwich the other night that was pretty rad, but they need to dump their bento menu. it doesn’t fit the vibe anyway.
