A disappointment! The menus looked great and the reviews were positive but our experience was just very average. The service, while prompt, was cold and not friendly generally giving the impression that our server would much rather have been somewhere else rather than helping us. The food, while plentiful, was very average. I had the fried chicken which was hot and tender but not tasty at all. We also had the chicken friend steak which was just OK but nothing special. The much vaunted cornmeal muffins were dry and tasted like they had come from a box and the salad, while again very large, was bland. Overall, AVERAGE is the best word to describe our experience here. Oh, and finally, like so many Portland restaurants in the winter, it was very cold with many of the diners not even taking off their winter coats and hats while eating.

Really enjoyed my dining experience sitting at the bar and watching the kitchen activity. The energy was lively, the venue interesting, the Cajun/Creole food was delicious and the cocktail and wine list was good. The Crawfish Ettoufee was spicy and delicious. The Andouille Jambalaya was filled with okra and the Pesto Macaroni and Cheese was so creamy. The leftovers got wrapped in aluminum foil creatures. We got a mouse and a snail. What a great touch! The Gooey Butter Cake was also good. Our server was really fun and helpful. Many of the tables were long and communal. I will definitely be returning to try other options.

Food was excellent. The lighting and setting is great. Went on a Saturday date night and had a lot of fun. However, I wish the staff had been more attentive. We had to wait a long time to have a waiter come check on us.

I honestly don’t know why people like this place so much. The food isn’t terrible but all of it is stuff I can easily make at home. And it’s a hit or miss whether the food is good. I’ve been here a couple of times and sometimes my meal is under seasoned, over seasoned, dry not dry. Really inconsistent. Not really worth it. A good place when it’s late because not a lots open but don’t go here during the day time – try other iconic places in Portland

I love the montage! I went last year for my birthday. The atmosphere is relaxing and dim but still feels energetic and fun. Their Cajun style food is unique. You can’t order the type of food just anywhere. I love the seating too… You sit with strangers. It’s always a long wait. Prepare for it.

Ordered the roasted garlic and bacon with added broccoli macaroni and cheese!!!! OH MY GOSH! So freaking good. Seriously my favorite mac and cheese ever. Also tried the gator bites. They were delicious when I wasn’t thinking I was chewing on gator haha. Romantic ambience and wonderful, tentative servers. Also grabbed some wine in the hidden bar at the back! Overall great place! Only awkward moment was seating. They really utilize their space- sat in a long table elbow to elbow with other customers next to me- you’d think you were in a speed dating situation hahaha. But hey with the right crowd it wasn’t bothersome at all. Will come back again! Ps they make really cool sculptures with the aluminum foil they wrap your left overs with! I got a cat. Supa pleased!!! imriche.com

Chicken Fried Steak is Chewy. Chicken fried steak was awful. Succotash seemed like it was previously frozen. Fried chicken and gator bites were good. But they did take the chicken fried steak off the bill, which was cool of them.
