Very non-authentic Italian, the pizza is okay but definitely not real world Italian. The dough is well made and cooked perfectly. the banana peppers on the diavola pizza are pickled in vinegar and vinegar does not mix with cheese, please use the ones under oil, cut the salt in half on the funghi pizza. If your gonna serve a cheese platter for $20 either add more cheese or at least use some top quality Italian cheeses. I realize you don’t cater to an Italian community but at least honor the culture and cuisine. We didn’t try any other foods. Service was good and restaurant is very nice and trendy.would not go back.
This is my husband’s second favorite restaurant in town. It’s way up there for me too. I especially like lunches here in winter when the big open space makes you feel less shut in. They take opentable reservations and have a good amount of parking.
Excellent happy hour after 9pm! Definitely a staple place to eat in Portland for a nice dining atmosphere and great Italian bread, pasta, and brick oven pizzas.
Nostrana….our first meal, of our first trip to Portland. Perfect execution of every mouth watering dish on the menu. Rusticity beautiful with high ceilings and a wood pile inside for the oven. James Beard missed on this one. X
Great Rustic Italian. Well we made it back for my Husband’s birthday, and we dragged our friends with us. I am so glad that our first visit was not a fluke. The staff continue to be pleasant and very efficient. The pasta continues to be fresh and vibrant, which is very important to me in an authentic Italian restaurant. We did try the wood fired pizza – lovely and perfectly cooked with a crisp crust and wonderful fresh mozzarella. The only sour note of the night was the chicken – it was over and dry, but still edible. The flat iron steak was the winner of the night. The menu is updated daily and so is constantly changing for the seasons. Love that! The cocktails are very nice, and one of the best whiskey drinks I have had in a while – try the Bofovum. The panna cota was out df this world – a definite must.Food: 38/40 – chicken dragged it downStaff/Service: 19/20Vibe/Decor/Atmosphere: 19/20 Value: 19/20 – a little spendy on the alcoholTotal: 95/100
Nostrana. Food was good but probably won’t return. The dining room was very noisy. The service was rushed. The server completely cleared the table while I was still finishing my dinner. I found that rude and I felt very uncomfortable eating when the ONLY thing left on the table was my plate. There were empty tables at this point with no one waiting so I don’t understand
Good stuff. Excellent service and staff. I had the seafood Capellini and it was excellent in flavor although I feel that it could have been a bit more generous with the clams of which I only counted 4 or 5. My wife had the Trout and it was fantastic, really good. Nice atmosphere and attentive and friendly staff. I dont mind paying $20 for an entree if the food is good and the food was very good!
