Out with friends. We (a party of 3) were referred here by a worker at the Grand Marketplace. I had real reservations about the possible quality of the food, as the restaurant is sort of a ‘hole in the wall’ in appearance. Good surprise! The food was served quickly and it was excellent. The carnitas I had were mouth-watering, and, even as left overs the next day, my food was yummy. I especially appreciated the very nice young woman who took our order. She carefully explained the menu items we didn’t understand, and she did it in a very nice way – she didn’t act bored or impatient, even though I’m sure she has to do this numerous times doing a work shift.
Better options nearby. This place is interesting to say the least. The staff was friendly, but the food was not great and the cook seems to get distracted easily. It took us almost 30 minutes to get a burrito and a couple of tacos because random people (who did not work there) kept going back to the kitchen and speaking with the cook. I’m no neat freak, but the place didn’t scream cleanliness either.I wanted to like this place, but I just can’t. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either – especially for the wait. Taqueria Los Gorditos isn’t very far away and the food there is way better.
It’s a good place in the neighborhood to get tasty mexican and more at nearly all hours of the day. Not amazing, just really really good every single time. What’s not to like?
Tried four different taco varieties–all delicious! Simply made but emphasis on bold, clean flavor. Currently, one of my fave taco places. Have yet to try burritos, tortas, etc. off the menu. But w the tacos tasting so good, will I ever give myself a chance to do so? Maybe yes. Maybe no. Just maybe. 100% a must-try in SE PDX.
LOVE ROBO. I work nearby and it’s the one place my boyfriend and I can go again and again. the Veggie Pastor taco with pineapple is my standby — the agua frescas delicious. The staff so sweet and they are always fast. When we first started going it was quiet, now it’s busy busy but all good. Favorite taco place in town — a good mix of old charm and innovative taco combos — great selection for vegetarians.
Not terrible.. With so many good, authentic taquerias in town, why would a place strive to be mediocre? Each time I’ve gone to Robo Taco I’ve left a little disappointed. I’ve been three times, and the last time was probably the last time.It isn’t that the food at Robo Taco is bad, it’s alright. Lots of fairly flavorful (at times dry) meat piled onto small corn tortillas, with good sauces. But each time I’ve been in I’ve felt it was all they could do to take my order. And I figured a place called Robo Taco would produce tacos quickly and efficiently. But noooo. No. I waited 10 minutes for 2 tacos, and I was the ONLY PERSON THERE when I ordered. Most recently I ordered a bean burrito, which only comes with refried beans (I like black beans. Lots of places offer them). The burrito was big, but it was also a gooey, drippy mess that quickly spilled out of either end, rendering it immediately inedible without a fork. And it wasn’t very good to boot — the beans tasted metallic. Also, like many other taquerias (Hi La Sirenita!) the place seems less than clean. It’s just a rag and some cleaner, folks. Maybe a mop.Side note — I just saw that Robo Taco is open late. I suppose if I was a drunk mess, I’d probably be all over this place.
The service is the worst and the food is overpriced. Vegans, go to Santeria or Los gorditos instead!
