Brewvana Tour – Stop #1: Buckman Botanical Brewery, an offshoot of Rogue, has one brewer with a mission: brew beer that’s the opposite of IPAs. The brewer walked us through four samples, three of his latest brews plus one from Rogue. He was super friendly and answered numerous questions with expertise. The atmosphere was more bar than bistro, but the view of the brewery from the dining area was cool. The Ginger Pale Ale was decent, strong ginger flavor. The Super Braggot tasted of honey and fruit. The Fruitcake Stout was my least favorite as it tasted too much of ginger and not many other flavors. And Rogue’s 7 Hop was exactly what you’d expect, a strong hoppy IPA. 07/17/15
Friday after work beer tour. I try to meet a friend of mine at a different brew pub after work on Fridays. Still finding places we haven’t been. This is my first time here. Started with DarkHorse Black IPA with the Buffalo Bleu Meatballs. Don’t judge, it made a nice pairing. I was expecting one or two more meatballs but it was good. Service was fine. I’ll be back sometime to try something from the dinner menu.
