A fabulous place. Most thai places have pad thai that is a candy-sweet sticky mess of grossness, but not here. Their pad thai is absolutely awesome. I look forward to more visits to Tarad to try other dishes.

Authentic!. When visiting Thailand, I noticed that every restaurant had a condiment tray on each table, with four condiments — one sweet, one salty, one spicy, and one vinegary. And yet, I’ve never seen that at any Thai restaurant here in the US. Until now.Not only does this restaurant have the traditional condiments, but it also has awesome food. Everything we had was delicious, and they were quite willing to make substitutions to deal with food allergies (or even just preferences). Easily the best Thai food I’ve had in Portland (and that’s saying a lot).My only complaint is that it seems their popularity has somewhat overwhelmed the staff. They are supposed to be open until 1am on weekends, but when we arrived around 8pm on a Saturday night their sign said they were closed. They said it was because they had run out of several things (including rice!). Luckily, they let us eat anyway and we had no problem finding dishes to order (and we had their wonderful sticky rice instead of the regular rice).Pretty small inside with only a few tables, but they do have counter-style seats.

Authentic, inexpensive, tasty!. When my Thai friends start singing the praises of a Thai place and tell me its more authentic than most places in town, I sit up and take notice. Really glad I took their advice to stop into this small, somewhat unassuming place. For my first visit, I tried one of the specials, which was Pad Thai with fresh Dungeness crab. That was tasty enough, but the star of the show was the Gaeng Hung Lay that my friend ordered. Unbelievably tender bits of pork in a curry sauce that had me ordering even more rice to sop it all up! On subsequent visits Ive had the Gaeng Oam, Tom Yum Soup, and the Khao Soi Gai, which might just be the best dish Ive eaten in the past 6 months. Fall of the bone chicken legs, a perfectly sweet/spicy/savory curry broth, and some great texture with the egg noddles and garnishes. In short, if you like Thai food, you need to get here! Open late too if you want something tasty after drinking and dancing at Dig A Pony.

LOVE the atmosphere. Server was very nice but he was the only person working the whole floor AND bar. Maybe that’s a kink they will work out. Food is great, albeit a skimpy portion of crab on my dish (but what restaurant doesn’t skimp on crab?). Spicy means SPICY! will be back!

The staff here are the nicest. The food is very different from most of the thai restaurants I’ve been too. But that is a good thing. And not so different as to not have favorites. Very noteworthy thai food. Excellent noodle dishes. The meatball salad is very spicy but addictively delicious.
