Best place I P-town to eat! The strawberry cheese blintz were the best I ever ate and my husbands hash and eggs were killer! The coffee was excellent and the thing better than the food was the outstanding service! Cheers to Zell’s as the best food in P-town!

WORTH THE WAIT. First of all, don’t miss the sign up sheet at the door! Saw a few people miss that, and had to wait longer. Zell’s is exactly what I had been hoping for on my weekend trip to Portland. Great atmosphere, great little neighbourhood and awesome food. They have (great) self serve coffee outside while you wait to get in. When you sit down you get mini scones with butter and raspberry jam. Tasty. My boyfriend ordered the Chorizo Omelette, and I ordered the Corned Beef Hash. I will start by saying that the omelette was the best omelette I have ever tasted. It was a flavour explosion with every bite. The flavours come in layers. It was just sooo good. The corned beef hash was also amazing. Very simple, and not trying to be anything fancy. Two over easy eggs over the best hash I’ve had. The corned beef was very fresh, moist, and cooked in house (NITRATE FREE! Which is such a bonus!) Great ratio of beef to potatoes. Usually restaurants use more potato as filler, but not here. I was very full when I left, but not sick full, like after a heavy greasy meal. I wish I lived in the area so I could eat here every day. I want to go back to try EVERYTHING.

Disappointing. Saddly, I can’t agree with all of the great reviews this place has received. The tiny(cute)scones that are free were very bland and not worth the time to make them. I ordered the gorgonzole omlett with potatoes. The omlett was so over cooked and dry and the gorgonzola was hard cold pieces of cheese that were added almost like an after thought. The potatoes looked burned but I think it was the seasoning which tasted a little odd-not a good addition. The space is very charming and it’s too bad it wasn’t represented with better food. Service was fine but not exeptional. .I am the a partner in a breakfast restaurant but would love to have a good place to go on my day off but alas, the search for a good breakfast place continues.

Really good service, really good food, really good coffee, love those free scones with the butter and jam-yum! Old Portland ambiance. Kick back for a meal and a chat with your local bestows at Zell’s.

Solid. Very solid American breakfast fare. I feel that I can really rely on Zell’s not to F anything up. I would not say that it stands out as anything truly special, but it does its job well.
