My standard go to place for fish and chips in cannon beach. Something with the oil makes the halibut delicious. Order extra tarter / lemon if those are your staples and go for lunch vs dinner to save a few bucks.
Good service–had the crab salad. Plenty of crab, but not much flavor. The clam chowder, however, was another story–excellent flavor, with a bit of carrot and what seemed like pured potatoes, perfectly seasoned. Recommend for the chowder.
I’ve been to similar places in Montauk, near Gloucester Mass, and Sheepshead Bay and this place is: overpriced with terrible indoor seating, no outdoor seating and the SLOWEST service I’ve ever experienced. They CHARGE you for oyster crackers and extra lemon. Not impressed at all. Very disappointed.
I’ve been to Cannon Beach about a dozen times and I can’t recall a time where I didn’t stop for clam chowder @ Ecola.
SO good!!! SO fresh!!!. They heaped extra crab onto the crab cocktail before handing it to us and the crab melt was a glorious heaping of crab meat (no mayo/onions/celery) piled on bread with cheddar draped all over it. It was perfect! My wife had the popcorn shrimp- lots of them and fresh! Piled on top of crispy fries. Simple unpretentious room, comfortable chairs, big windows- with great food! We will be back!!!
Pricey Good. So good! Service was friendly and fast. Many choices, most prepared deep fried, and a tad expensive, without a beverage included in the cost. The restaurant has a lot to look at while you wait: case of fresh seafood, seafood seasoning/spices, seafood cooking gadgets, and photos and paintings all around. Only one bathroom and it was pretty trashed. The food was darn good! We ordered $15 dinner size Oyster Baskets- huge! 8 humongous sized oysters, crisp fried and explosively juicy. The coleslaw was moist, but lacking seasoning. The tartar sauce was a good accompaniment, but their condiment bar offered a much better homemade cocktail sauce. The fries were fine and could have used a fry seasoning, maybe old bay or creole to spice them up. I heard their shrimp cocktail and calamari salad are great which gives me an excuse to come back.
Positives: The food tasted great. We had the Halibut fish and chips. Atmosphere is good for having loud kids because of the order and seat yourself style dining. Negatives: overpriced for the amount of food you receive. Ex. $15.95 for three, three inch pieces of fish. $6.95 for 2 small chicken strips(this was the most disappointing because we ended up purchasing another order of fish and chips to help fill us and our 3 and 5 year old kids.)
