We drove to the Stephanie Inn to celebrate Wendy’s birthday. Seems that a lot of people do the same. Made reservations at the dining room for a special birthday dinner. Very much an upscale inn dining room with gracious staff that was very attentive. We had a filet and rack of lamb. Also had their special cocktails. We were not rushed and our server was perfect. Never waited for anythingSaid, there is something slightly off in the food department. I tried and tried to justify something higher then a 4. Actually struggled to convince myself of that 4. There are three feelings that come to mind1). It almost seems like someone else created the menu and someone else is executing it, but has put a slightly weird spin on it. Slightly off2). I am far from a stick in the mud traditionalist. I do have base expectations. My filet was well aged, but had a almost marinaded taste and texture. Almost a berry flavor. Just wrong. 3). Also the filet was served sliced in half. Two rare sides up and the seared down. Cut bagel style. Not sure if that was to hide the size, but a filet should be well seared on both sides and the diner should experience the crust and the Pink center in the same bite. Cutting it longwise reversed the taste profile. The filet was short on pepper and salt. Had a gravy like sauce ladled on top We have both traveled the world and have dined in some of the finest restaurants. Never had a filet done or taste this way. Some dishes should be left to tradition. Worse is when it is sold as traditional and is not. I am all for creativity, but someone is trying to hard to be different. I am okay with a $185 tab for dinner sans dessert. I am not okay with a dish that tweaks a very simple filet to the edge of twilight zone. My suggestion is to order some of the seafood or truly specials. Don’t expect a New York filet at the StephanieAll else was very good which is how the eeeked out a 4We will go back. chilltravelers.com

Favorite Fine Dining On The Oregon Coast!. This past Wed. night we dined at Stephanie Inn! We had a nice seat by the window and brought in a bottle of Archery Summit Pinot Noir. Plate after plate of perfection with the most attentive service of any restaurant on the northern coast that we have been to. Prawn salad, asparagus soup, fillet mignon and chocolate pot de creme made for dining like royalty on the Oregon Coast. :)06 Sep, 2011Still Amazing With Positive Changes!. This past Sat. night we dined at Stephanie Inn to celebrate my husband’s birthday. They now offer a la carte items and dinner is served between 5:30-8:30, you do not need to guarantee your reservation with a credit card, which is nice and allows for more flexability. I enjoyed the four course meal with wine pairings, everything we sampled was perfectly prepared and the pours of wine were very generous. Our service was efficient and attentive but maybe a bit rushed and overly energetic. We will definitely return when a fine dining meal is in our plans. I would say that after spending several months on the northern coast…. Stephanie Inn offers the best food around. :)27 Jul, 2010Top Notch!. We have dined here several times when Crystal Corbin was the chef, our meals were always special and beautifully presented with impeccable service. We have not been since she left but hope to try it within the next couple of months. There is a Fixed Prixe menu here so call ahead to be sure they are serving something you will enjoy. 🙂
Our perennial coastal favorite. We keep coming back year after year, several times a year.Excellent atmosphere and service complement well- executed cuisine that features locally sourced ingredients. It is worth a stay at this outstanding coastal inn just to experience the gracious dining room. Breakfast here is very good as well with plenty of home-baked breads. One of the top two or three dinners on Oregon’s coast.
Very disappointed!! Would not recommend! Ist experience here and in Oregon! For the price and ambience, I would give if a C.07 Oct, 2010Looked forward to a 1 of a kind dinner! First time here and in Oregon with my husband! I was very disappointed!! Would not recommend for the price and experience.
Pretty good, but not fabulous. As a pastry chef, I know how hard those in the back of the house work in restaurants so I like to be kind to them. In light of that, I’ll tread gently on this review. We went to dinner at the Stephanie Inn for a nice birthday dinner. At the time I made the reservations, The Stephanie website said they had a dinner special for $99 for 2 people, valid for both guests of the inn and visitors to the inn (their words). I inquired about this and the reservations agent told me it was only available to guests of the inn. Not the biggest deal in the world…I made the reservations early enough that they didn’t yet know the menu. They kindly asked if my husband and I had any food allergies (gluten, onions, banana, avocado and seafood between us) and said they made a note of this. I SHOULD have double checked closer to the dinner date what the menu would be, but neglected to do so which was a shame as the menu for the night following our reservations would have been much more appropriate for us. We arrived and there was nothing on the menu that we could eat, but we bumbled our way through the dinner (caesar salad with anchovy fillet, Seafood chowder, and choice of salmon, prawns or pork followed by bananas foster on puff pastry). The food that we did eat was pretty good (but I am not a big fan of pork at ALL. I should have asked for more of the potato soup they brought: I would have been more pleased). The service was impeccable, and they had tracked down a gluten free bread for me (which was totally unexpected and very sweet), but brought it out still frozen and crumbly. All in all, I’d say this $150 meal (without drinks) was alright. The service made us feel special, but I suspect I would have enjoyed it far more on steak night.I’ve had way better meals at Newmans 988 (John Newman is the former executive chef of Stephanie).
