Sweet Basil’s has been a favorite of ours for some time. The lunches are delicious and the dinners are fantastic. Highly recommended. Service can be leisurely (they warn you!), but slow down and enjoy this wonderful place.
I would not recommend the wine bar, we showed up at 4pm for a glass of wine and our waitress was a bitch, she was not happy person. We did sit outside and when we went into the bar we were greeted much better. It too bad that grumpy people can turn you off so much
I am in the wine industry, and honestly I wasn’t impressed with the service at all. We sat outside and we were forgotten about. There was 4 of us. We got 4 glasses of wine and a cheese plate. We cleaned the table off ourselves. Took 15 mins for them to come and take our wine order and food order. Then another 15 to get our wine. Then ANOTHER 30 mins just to get our one cheese plate. After we were finished we had to go find the waitress to get our bill.. She put it all on one bill and didn’t even ask if we needed it split. Honestly, if you are going to label yourself as a tapas wine bar, then that is what you need to offer. Tapas is only offered from 3/5 and still charges you. That is NOT how a traditional tapas bar works! Plus, they give no industry discount and their wines were wayyyy over priced! This was my first time in cannon beach and at the wine bar, I will for sure be going back to cannon beach, but not the wine bar.
Easily the worst meal I’ve had at Cannon Beach.. When we showed up, we were shown to a rickety plastic table outdoors and promptly forgotten for the next 15 minutes. Our waitress finally came by our table with water and took our order, then vanished for another half hour. When our food finally came, only one of the three dishes was really worth the $20+ price tag: the portabello crab. The jambalaya was bland, the chicken was stringy and tasteless, and the vegetables were soggy and flavorless. When we complained, the waitress took our plates without a word. No apology, no offer of another dish as a replacement.Terrible service, and food that ranges from fine to simply awful. Will not go back again.
I had high hopes for this place. Quaint, local and had a fresh looking menu. What we got was horrible service and boring food. After we ordered, we were completely ignored until our sandwich and wrap arrived…45 minutes later. Told shrimp took awhile. FYI- three shrimp, sliced into thirds and tossed in cocktail sauce takes 3 minutes. I asked for the check and unsurprisingly was told she would be right back. Did not get the right check (of course), waited 5 minutes to get it corrected. when no one showed up, I handed it to the correct table, dropped cash and left. The best part? If you try to customize your order, they charge a slow down fee. How awesome is that?As for food, it was ok. Shrimp sand which was a veggie sandwich with shrimp on top. Oil poured from veggie wrap during each bite. Slaw wasn’t bad at all.
We were here on Valentine’s Day Dinner- they squeezed us in – our meal was great! Service quick efficient – I would eat here again! Lots of crab on the Portobello mushroom – not stingy!
Excellent food but beware of the waiter. My friend and I ate here late this evening. She ordered chicken and apple salad and I ordered Seafood Gumbo. There was a very long wait for the food which when it was finally delivered turned out to be excellent. While we were waiting for our food we observed the couple at the table next to us complain to the waiter that he had written down the wrong prices for two of the items he had served them to the total amount of $18. Sure enough when our bill came my gumbo was priced at $22.50 instead of the menu price of $12.95. Go ahead and try the food but check your bill closely.
