  We stayed at the Surfsand Resort and had two meals at the Wayfarer Restaurant due to the convenience. The location is perfect if you are at Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock. It has a great view of the ocean and the beach. The atmosphere is upscale.The hostess and our waitresses for both dinner and breakfast were wonderful. Friendly, fun, prompt, courteous, great with kids. They really made our dining experiences.The food however, was overpriced and did not live up to the level of the service. The crab in the crab cocktail was tasty and sweet but did not match the extravagant price. The wedge salad was very good. Lots of bacon and blue-cheese and if that’s all we would have had this would have been a five star review. The razor clams were tasty. The veggies overcooked. The clam chowder was bland and disappointing. My ten year old son said the chicken strips were dry and he never complains about chicken strips. I did enjoy the crispy fries he had with them. Although there were a few excellent dishes several were disappointing. The drinks were excellent.Breakfast the next day was similar. The fresh fruit was fine, but the sausage gravy was bland. The tomato Benedict and bacon were tasty. The pancakes and toast were yummy, but the eggs were watery. Service again was friendly and prompt but the food just didn’t match the price.The Wayfarer has nailed the location and the service, but for the price, they need to up their game and consistently perform on all the dishes as well.

  It was expensive, paid about $30 for a small price of Salmon, rice and some greens. Yet, everything was cooked perfectly, not over seasoned, service was fast and friendly, and the view is fantastic. The temperature was just right inside and they even accommodated my random request for a fruit bowl with lunch. I would definitely eat here again as the price I paid was well worth the experience.

  UP – Best beachside viewing we could find. Great service, drinks and food.DOWN – Bit pricey for some things, but worth it.OUT – We ordered all kinds of drinks while it poured outside. Scored a table in the corner that had the best view of the beach and surf. Razor clams were delicious but that’s all we got. Would love to try more! Our server, Eric, was a blast to talk to and gave some great advise on where to explore in the area.

  Great location, good food and excellent service. We really enjoyed our lunch, the Rock Fish tacos were excellent. The Halibut Fish & Chips was also excellent. Recommend the garlic fries, tasty. If weather allows, sit in the patio and enjoy the Haystack Rock, just off the beach. Our waitress was prompt, courteous and invisible until we needed her. Prices were a little on the high side, but the portions were very generous. Recommend the Wayfarer.

  Pretty view of Haystack Rock. My Pinot salmon lacked flavor, though I appreciated the fresh vegetables. The Caeser salad with prawns was delicious. Fun to have it made table side. Fish and chips were delicious. Pb&j was hearty. Crime brle was a hit. Our waitress was sweet.

  Pinot Noir Salmon. Absolutely the best and freshest salmon I’ve ever had in my life! The corn the rice the carrots the green beans the bread even the Ceasar salad was fantastic and such a huge portion of food for all of it! Outstanding and bar none the best restaurant in Cannon Beach!
