I drove by your coffee shop in Beaverton and decided to drop in for the first time. I parked next to the shop and got out of my car. I was immediately enveloped with cigar and cigarette smoke. It looked like I was in a forest fire as there was a blue haze over the whole property. There were two portly men parked at one of the tables right beside the entrance door smoking two huge cigars, apparently proud that they could blow as much cigar smoke as possible around the property. Not to be out done, the two women beside the portly guys were also blowing copious amounts of cigarette smoke as they talked loudly into their cell phones. There had to be an emergency as they were both very agitated. I then purchased my coffee from a very nice barista, but was delayed as the barista was also acting as a cashier. There was a rather long line behind me as she struggled to juggle two balls. I finally received my latte and then went into a small panic attack as suddenly I realized I would have to face the smoking congregation on my way out of the store to get to my car. I knew it was going to be yet another unpleasant journey as I could see the two portly men out of the window now blowing cigar smoke rings in a very artful fashion. I thought maybe I could do an end run around the women smoking cigarettes, but was disappointed when I realized that one of the women was now pacing frantically right in front the entrance while smoking a cigarette and shrieking into her cell phone. I gathered my courage and busted to the car trying to hold my breath all the way. I didnt quite make it and had to take a deep breath as I unlocked my door. Thats how Ill always remember the Ava Roasteria, a friendly place that smells like an ashtray filled with cigarette butts. Too bad, Ill never go back, because there are plenty of other options to buy a latte without enduring second hand smoke. Oh ya, secondhand smoke is classified as a known human carcinogen.
Love the coffee, nice vibe. I have been here several times now and can safely say that I am a fan of Ava Roasteria. Coffees and teas are fabulous. I particularly like the pomegranate tea. However, I am not a fan of their pastries. To me it felt like someone got a little out of hand with the sugar. So sweet that I couldn’t finish because it made me feel sick and my friend was the same way with her chocolate cake. But on Fridays they have live music which is awesome. The ambience of the place is relaxing but crowded at times. All in all, this is a place where you can meet to chat with friends, play games, surf the web, study, or just hang out and relax. Plus, its open 24 hours! Not too shabby.
Can be too crowded but worth it.. Ava has a great atmosphere, tasty food, and good coffee and teas. The only down side for me is everyone else loves it and if you go in a group it can be hard to find a table (if going in the evening or weekend). its an awesome place to go in the evening if the weather isnt too horrible because they have heaters above some of the tables. I really love getting thier turkey sandwich, and the free wyfi it a huge bounus but not the fastest (it serves its purpose but isn’t amazing) As long as it’s not to crowded I love going there. Parking can be a bitch though, I often have to park at least a block away.
Great desserts. Wonderful desserts, sandwiches, and drinks. The service would be better with a smile and more helpful people.
An Indie coffee shop in a Starbucks world. I come from a small town outside of Portland where there is only 1 Starbucks (that sits in the Fred Meyer’s) and the independent coffee shops reign supreme. So when I moved to Beaverton I was sad to see so many Starbucks and not so many indie places. So I was very happy to find Ava’s, with great coffee, great food (their house salad is awesome and their best sandwich is definitely the Chicken Rustica) and the best part is their free Wi-Fi that you can enjoy 24hrs a day! So it makes it a great place to get some work done. I have a friend whose creative juices flow at night and she can come and work here without worrying about having to pack up and leave when they close and loose her creative flow. The only down side to Ava’s is that it gets pretty loud in there so if you need to make some calls or have to have a quiet place to work this isn’t the place for you. But overall it great and I love coming here.
Ava Roasteria – Great bakery items. Ava Roasteria bakes tasty selections to go with their tea and coffee. Good ambiance – feels good to be there.
Amazing. I love ice white chocolate mochas. They actually use real white chocolate, not just a syrup. That’s probably why some people don’t like. Artificial flavoring tastes better than the real thing. (sarcasm)
