Mothra Says………… Do As I Say, Not As I Do.My inlaws were visting toPortland on Friday past and wanted to go out for a nice dinner. Isuggested Decarli and we made a reservation. We arrived at 6p and wereseated promptly. Tamara met us as our server and passed out themenus. Ok…. lets get right to it. The cuisine is reallytasty. K had the Chitarra with ricotta, peas and pancetta, with an eggyolk, I had the seafood with spaghetti. My mom in-law had a largepork chop and Dad in-law had the Tagliatelle with meatragu. K and I split a vinegrette green salad and really enjoyed a tastyberry liver pate for a hors d oeuvre. We brought with us our two bottles of assorted Red wine and enjoyed them with ourdishes. The chefs are amazing and the menu is reallywell done. Now the bad news for this 2ndvisit. While presenting our salad, Tamara asked if she could take ourentre order. I mentioned that we wanted to take our time with theevening. Tamara insisted that she would not put the order in to thekitchen. But, 10 minutes later while still enjoying our salad, four entrees arrived with her halfwayapologizing as she ran to the table. Also, earlierI asked for a substitution onpasta vs spaghetti. She encouraged me to not engage the chefsas the chefs dont like change in the kitchen. Really? Had I not been with my inlaws I would have gently pushed the envelope a bit more with Tamara; but did not. I did not appreciatethe total control and lack of flexability that came with our server.Dont get me wrong, my spaghetti with EVOO, lemon, shaved garlicand seafood wasvery tasty however, I believe I would have enjoyed a different pasta with thesame entre. Will I be back? No. Not for some time. Not because of the chefs preparation but because ofthe overwhelming total lack of flexabitity from Tamara. I think not for awhile. Too many good restaurants out there. Mothra Says…. 3.0 of 5.0
Nice digs. My favorite part about this place is the ambiance. It’s warm, open and kind of looks like it came out of a restoration hardware catalog. One weird thing though was when we called for a reservation, the hostess made it sound like it was a hardship to squeeze us in…yet…when we got to the restaurant, there were more than a few empty tables. At any rate, the service we had was on point, and the drinks and entrees were delicious. I had the grilled pork shoulder which had a nice presentation and was sizzling hot, At the end we shared a rather understated little salted caramel cheesecake in a ramekin for dessert, which disappeared quickly. Unfortunately, I felt that was the most lacking in value for the price. All and all, I hope to come back to try more of the menu.
For Beaverton this is the best. Meatball appetizer is straight out of Italy. However I feel they are sometimes a bit haughty for the suburbs.
Great Service. The first time I came here was for happy hour. The bartender, I wish I could remember her name (this was a few months ago), let us sample some drinks we were curious about and had food recommendations too. The food was tasty but I’m so used to cheap, fast food that I wasn’t used to more gourmet/exotic flavors.Overall I enjoyed my experience there.
Worst restaurant experience ever! What is up with this restaurant? Pretentious, over priced and rude. We waited 1 hour for our meals. During our long wait, we had to flag the waitress down to ask for bread, and drinks. The restaurant was not busy. When our entrees finally arrived, we were shocked by the extremely small portions of the raviolii entrees, which consisted of five, small raviolli in a pasta bowl. We asked our waitress about the extremely small servings, and requested larger portions. The chef came to our table, and told us they had a busy night, and ran out of the raviolli, so they had to split the remaining between the three dinners. What??? I could not believe they would do something so shady. Why didn’t they tell us when they realized they did not have enough to complete our order, and give us an opportunity to chose a different entree? Rude!!! I will never go back. I am sorry, but if you want a nice restaurant, don’t look for it in Beaverton. Take a fifteen minute drive downtown, where you will find many high-class restaurants, with excellent food, and service.
Passion you can taste. Its really interesting, the bar staff is really friendly…the restaurant wait/host staff….a little less friendly. Most importantly though, You can taste the appreciation for food, in the food. Its very tasty. Its very Quality. Will go again and again.
