Friday evening at 6 and it was busy. Service took a bit longer but was not overly long. Miso and salad were standard. The sushi (salmon. Yellowtail, and kampchi) was very good. Lovely rice and decent sized pieces of fish. We had two rolls, hakatamon and dragon. Both were excellent. Prices were ok not cheap but not overboard.
Not great. I love the grocery store, but the Japanese restaurant attached is sub-par.
Great!. We tried a little of everything, sushi, tempura, gomae, and ramen. Everything was excellent including the service. It’s really hard to find well seasoned sushi rice, theirs was spot on. There we a lot of Japanese folks in there clearly enjoying their food, that’s always a good sign.
We made a mistake in dining here. The rice was dry, the tempura was over-cooked and service was slow. We experienced food – not a meal. This is a sad thing, as this used to be a destination.
Not just a grocery store. The food is prepared and hot. They’ve a huge assortment of foods from Dim Sum, Southeast asian cuisine, Japanese, chinese and Indian. Some foods you will recognise easily, others are more unique. In some ways it’s similiar to other grocery store cafes but with food that is more ethnic. It is in the left side of the store when you enter, or the north side. The food is good and my wife and kids love grabbing food to go when we are going back home.
What used to be…. We have had no good service for a while and a poor attitude toward the food has lost our love of this once perferred spot. Hope they get their act back on track.
Update as of late October: new sushi chef, significantly smaller portions, higher prices. No longer worth the drive, at least for now… Hopefully this is temporary.
