Really enjoyed this restaurant that is tucked away in a strip mall off of Cedar Hills Blvd. We shared a Spicy Lobster Roll that was beautiful and delicious and an order of Gyoza with a great dipping sauce that was followed by a bowl of flavorful Spicy Kakuni Ramen. A draft Kirin Beer was a perfect compliment to the meal. The service was efficient and our server was helpful.

Disappointing. I dropped by on a cold and rainy night for a bowl of udon noodles. The tempura vegetables were good, the beef okay, the noodles were noodles, but the broth was sickeningly sweet and pretty much ruined a simple bowl of noodles. I left with my stomach feeling like I had overdosed on sugary dessert. In addition to disappointing food, the restaurant was so cold and drafty I was uncomfortable the whole time I was there. I won’t go back.

Mothra Says…Beef like Buttah. K and I had been to a Japanese market on Beav Hi 10 east in Beaverton a few weeks back and had seen this restaurant attached to the corner of the market. First of all, this market is amazing! We popped in today for a lunch for one of my very favorite cuisines. This is a rather simply designed restaurant, no frills, no bells or whistles. However, and I shoot to the end of this review, Ana our server was exacting, attentive, and very kind. She was around but not underfoot. Well done Ana.K immediately saw the Poke on the menu and mentioned that this was a must. So, I advised Ana that we wanted the Poke for an appetizer, with two of Oregons finest, a 20oz Kirin for K and a 20 oz Asahi for Moth. K mentioned that although very good, the Poke lacked sesame oil, white vinegar, too much ginger and too many white onions. Next, our miso soup and spinach/romaine salad with peanut-satay dressing arrived. This was a nice salad however; I would have preferred all spinach leaves. No, not traditional Japanese in nature, but the spinach leaves were a nice addition. Moments later, our entrees arrived: My shrimp tempura with carrots, broccoli, eggplant, zucchini, & as a nice surprise, acorn squash. What? No deep fried green beans? Next time I hope. Ks entre was not only tasty but colorful as well. She ordered tenderized strips of beef with ginger and soy, white onions, tiny chopped green scallions in a mildly sweet sauce. In addition, shredded green cabbage was on the side. This was a delicious meal however K mentioned that the onions although delicious were heavy handed. 2/3rds through lunch we were both starring wide eyed at our plates. Ana dropped by and asked if we wanted a to-go box. Absolutely! This is a good restaurant, but not great. Two entrees, Poke, two large Japanese beers ,bowls of rice, to-go box, 20% tip, out the door at $50. Mothra says… Yes, well be back to try other items off of the menu. 3.20 of 5.0
