It was a sunny Saturday morning when our family of four first experienced breakfast at Jim & Pattys: a #5 Mr. Natural (egg, zucchini, spinach, tomato, cheese and caramelized onion for $6), a #7 Sweet Lorraine (egg, bacon, caramelized onion and Swiss for $6), a Hipster Bowl (half biscuits and gravy topped with bacon and a fried egg for $4.95); and a Pig Newton (sausage and cheddar chive biscuit roll for $3.50). My sons requested to split a cinnamon roll.My wife ordered a vanilla Borgia in a house mug. I ordered a house coffee and two small cups of hot chocolate for our sons, who secured a table in the back, next to a mural covering the entire east wall. I stayed up front at the receiving counter, watching two female baristas generate a busy stream of drink orders with meticulousness and speed.May I pay you a compliment? I asked the nearest barista. She smiled and nodded. You are both devastatingly efficient. Your movement is choreography.I delivered the food and drinks. The cinnamon roll and Pig Newton were warmed from bakery racks. The breakfast sandwiches followed from the kitchen. My wife was halfway through her Mr. Natural before I returned to the table with the last order, the Hipster Bowl.My wife purred over her coffee. We marveled over the dishes, both savory and sweet. My sons happily cleared the table and took pictures of the menu boards for my review.Satiated, we left in high spirits, looking forward to our return.
Reviewing This Places Makes Me Hungry!. By far I’ve never loved a coffee shop as much as this one. I’d fix up a cot and a makeshift pillow fort stolen from the couch in the store, but that would be creepy and might drive customers away when in fact I want them to have plenty of repeat customers. If you loved Coffee People in the past, some of the coffee fare will be familiar. They have Black Tiger Espresso as well as its delightful offspring: the Black Tiger milkshake. However, they’ve expanded on that and offer quite a bit more. Their menu of mochas might be overwhelming, but visit again and again to try them all. I’ve yet to have a bad mocha there. For an extra challenge they allow you to combine them. I highly recommend asking for a habanero mocha Borgia — spicy habanero, rich chocolate, and a slice of orange all mixed in to create something magical. They also sport a great pastry counter, and every morning fresh baked pastries arrive. They’ve a great selection there and there’s frequently something new and tempting – in fact, very tempting. In fact, I’m craving something from their pastry counter right now.Their breakfast menu is both simple and incredible all at the same time. They have a selection of breakfast sandwiches that range from simple: egg, bacon, and cheese, to a serious meal in itself such as the Memphis: Egg, pulled pork, bbq sauce, jalapenos all on your choice of bread. Of special note I’d like to say that they sport some of the best gravy I’ve had in this area in say … well, just about ever. Try the Hipster Bowl – half a buttermilk biscuit with gravy topped with an egg and bacon.Great, I’ve made myself hungry. Go to Jim and Patty’s. You’ll not regret it, except maybe in the gained weight for good cause sort of way.
