My Trip to Mt. Hood. Tidbits of Heaven where you least expect it. What can I say? We stopped for breakfast; didn’t expect much. Boy, was I surprised! Quiet, homey, nice people. Oh, and food you wish your momma made. If you are there for breakfast, do try the chicken-fried steak and eggs. The rosemary-sausage cream gravy is not to be missed. Tell the cook the old guy with the white beard sent ya.
On your way to the top, make sure to stop!. We found this quaint log cabinesque stop on our trek up to Mt. Hood recently. Located just before the Ranger Station on the left eastbound on 26 it can be hard to see on a foggy or rainy day. Make sure you stop in, they’re super nice folks, very homey, and you get the mountain feel the moment you walk in if you have not got it by the time you reach there. Zig Zag is a combination one-stop mountain shop, hot food energy station, chilling out or warming up stop, and nik-nak store. When warming up or having a bite of their great homemades, make sure to sit in the back and contemplate nature’s best with Bear Creek running just behind Zig Zag! The dcor is typical of its environment. This is a must stop going up, or going down.
