Ambrosia is a nice Italian place that’s been around Eugene a while– I remember eating there as a kid in the late 1980s. Nostalgia aside the food is good, but nothing extraordinary, and 9 times out of 10 I’d rather go to Beppe and Gianni’s.
Does not cater to families. admonishes parents when their children are starving after waiting an hour for a pasta dish. manager verbally assaults customers.
Ambrosia ????. Have gone to Ambrosia a few times, it has concistantly ok food . It certainly is a step up from Olive Garden 🙂 but not that much. The service is ok, the food is ok , the ambiance is nice… But could ya please turn on the heater . Is it worth the money I suppose it is the best Italian Eugene has to offer. Not sure that says a lot 🙁
Went here for valentines day, had reservations a little after 9, but was told to come early and they would get us in early. My boyfriend and I showed up 20 minutes early only to wait until after our actual reservation time to be seated. The service was good the owner offered us food while we waited. However when we were seated we were put on the bottom floor which was clearly for meetings or special events, not at all like the upstairs which is lovely. They were out of the rabbit, so we got the fettuccini which was ok but doesn’t even compare to beppes in eugene. The waitress never refilled my drink and we ate as fast as we could to go home. In the end we wished we would’ve made dinner at home, it was pretty disappointing. It felt like they over booked for valentines day and just last minute opened up the room they used for meeting. Not impressed at all.
At one time our favorite. . .. But not anymore. Ourt last visit to Ambrosia will be our last. After a disasterous Valentine’s Day visit, we thought we’d give it one more try. The front of the house needs fine tuning; we were told 5 minutes for a table (they weren’t particularly busy) and said we’d be at the bar. Fifteen minutes later we reminded the host we were still waiting. The cream of mushroom chicken soup might as well have been a can of Campbell’s condensed soup that hadn’t been prepared properly. They were out of bread and offered free slices of pizza, which were tasty. They were also out of rabbit; perhaps because it was close to the holidays the restaurant didn’t want to over order. Bottom line, Ambrosia isn’t what it used to be and I won’t be what I used to be a – loyal customer.
Perfect Burger. On a west coast trip with the wife, we decided to stop here on a whim. Who would have thought it; the best burger in my life at a Italian joint in Eugene, Ore. Thought I knew my burgers. I the south, we generally prefer mustard, slaw, chili and onions. Totally different here. An artisan burger at it’s best! Semper Fi!!!
