Terrible, aweful, dont bother. Forgot this place, serious. we went for the first time about 2 months back. was ok, had crab legs and some selections. wanted to try it again. did so yesterday during the 1/2 price tues. was terrible and found out 90% of the staff doesnt speak english and those that do understand it very little. we walked in and were asked what we wanted to drink and i asked what did they have. was handed a table top thing with the list of sodas and drinks. within literally 5 secs a lady was trying to take it out of my hands and saying 2 dr peppers when only my husband had said what he wanted. i said ice water, was told to go eat. ok i had been thinking of crab legs all week since knowing we were going back. lo and behold that yesterday they didnt have crab legs but FAKE wanna be crab meat. i asked if it was real or fake and the 1st guy no speak english and the 2nd just repeated crab, crab, but i found it was fake when i had a 6 inch long piece that looked like a long strip of manicotti pasta colored in certain places with red/orange something. the garlic bread was as hard as a brick, the fries were dried and hard. i tried asking for butter and no one knew what butter was, couldnt understand me. finally someone brought out a little butter but it was cold and liquid..not butter, probably some soy product like you get at the movies over your popcorn. i tried asking for it to be hot and they had no idea what i meant. i actually asked the patrons eating there…does anyone speak the language. 1 lady did and told the person what i wanted and he left and came back with it hot.was so awedul from start to end we will not return.and seriously, if you want to live here LEARN the darn language. i have no problem with people from all over moving here, but geeze learn the language or stay out of the public sector please.
Great option Buffet!. The food is always good, and sometimes even great. no its not gourmet, but then if you want that pay say $51+ per person instead that of for a group, then you have something to say! I know because I dine at both, especially during business trips. For the price, the selection is great, and a great variety. Food is alot better than that I’ve had at peoples’ homes, potlucks etc. and its affordable to bring a bunch of kids, teenagers who can eat alot! I’ve also eaten other buffets in Lane county and this is far better, in taste, quality, and selction. Plus most buffets put out alot of cheap starches and things from packages. At Empire, the food is from scratch and they don’t skimp on dishes and quality ingredients. Like seafood. Where else can you get all you can eat seafood, crab legs, basic sushi, shell fish, shrimp, and a vairety of other proteins!!! This is my second favorite restaurant around, and definitely favorite buffet! I’ve never seen a good quality Asian and Seafood inspired buffet below $25 before!! How they can afford it, makes me think they have very little profit margin. So, yes, its a great place to dine, with a group, after church, or perfect for teen and college students! Also, service is nice, the staff are always smiling and nice.Give it a try, a local owned business. They also always accomodate last minute groups as best as they can and birthday gatherings. We’ve never been turned away and I’ve seen people show up in groups without notice, and they try to accomodate. Plus if you have small children they price by age, so its cheap to bring the whole family! What a deal! This is where I like to bring a bunch of kids of all ages, because its affordable. Last year, I gave my son his birthday dinner at Buffet, and because of price, he was able to invite plenty of friends, and it was affordable. Instead of lots of work and cooking at home, it was easy for host the dinner there and everyone had something to eat they liked! If we went to a traditional restaurant, it’d cost me hundreds of dollars to feed a group that size. It worked out great, he was happy, his friends were full and happy, and so was my wallet!
Average Food. There is nothing that sets this place apart from any other Chinese Food Buffet. The food doesn’t look unusual, nor is it prepared in any way that makes it memorable. The taste is plain — no spice. They probably shouldn’t be making sushi either… it’s an insult to any decent sushi restaurant in town. Dry rice, old ingredients, (ugh) I don’t want to relive eating there again.I won’t be going back — it’s overpriced, average, and the staff are not the least bit genuine.
Decent food: Service with a smile.. This place opened I think 7 or 8 years ago, and it’s still a hit with me and all my friends and family. Everybody can get what they want, and you can fill up for a decent price. Servers are friendly, but don’t get in your hair constantly- hey, it’s buffet, who wants to have their meal interrupted every 5 minutes? If we can’t decide where we want to go (or sometimes even if we can), Empire is always our fallback place.
Nothing too exciting, but it’s better than your typical buffet food.
With its wide assortment of standard dishes and out-of-nowhere surprises, you can easily get your money’s worth at Empire Buffet. Here, they offer all the Chinese buffet regulars (beef and broccoli, fried donuts, etc.) as well as a pretty decent sushi bar. They often serve crab legs, ane time I was there, they had frog legs! (And yes, they tasted exactly like chicken!) The staff are always friendly and attentive, so be sure to tip them accordingly 🙂
THE EMPIRE!. Nothing wrong with this Chinese Buffet, but nothing special, other than they will bend over backwards to accommodate large groups at the drop of a hat. Coconut chicken is my favorite.Sushi bar and cocktail bar. Carry out available. Free buffet on your birthday.
