The food is pretty awful. Even the fries have that nasty burnt taste that trendy places seem to do nowadays, not sure why? I can only imagine enjoying the food if I were wasted and on the verge of starvation. Way too expensive for how terrible it is.
Great beer and edible food. They follow the too big of a menu to pull off idea that many brewpub type places seem to think is a good idea… Too bad. They also don’t have table service… two strikes.
If you’re pressed for time and can only make one beer oriented stop in Eugene, I’d make it Bier Stein. With a rotating selection of over 30 beers fresh on tap, it’s my favorite beer geek spot in town. You can even view the tap list in real time here. The newish digs on 16th and Willamette have been seriously upgraded with a large electronic tap board and an impressive stock of over 1,000 local and international bottles. The food is beer hall-style approved and the staff is the perfect combination of friendly and knowledgeable. paperairplaneblog.com
Excellent pub food, good service, incredible beer selection. Highly recommended
Like the others mention, it’s the beer and lots to choose from. The downside is the having to order at the counter – not a customer friendly model especially when things are busy. If they had better service I would be a regular. I’d rather drink average beer elsewhere and get god service.
For beer, the bier stein is unmatched. Huge selection, delicious tap choices, and 20% off beer to go. Food is very good as well, but I can’t say I feel the sandwiches are worth 10 each. All in all, one of my favorite places in town.
A HAPPENING PLACE!. If you like beer, this is the place to be. Dozens of beers on tap and hundreds of bottles in the cases. Wine drinkers, you will be pleased that they have a surprisingly good wine list and a couple on tap. The food is very casual and delicious. I recommend the hummus plate. We can’t stay away from it. Stay away from here if you hate crowds and a noisy atmosphere.
