I had heard good things about this restaurant so I decided to give it a try. Aladdin’s Cafe has an unpretentious interior and lacks the ambiance of many of the other Middle Eastern restaurants I have eaten at. However, the lack of ambiance was more than made up for by the excellent food and warm, friendly service.I went to Aladdin’s with my good friend Elizabeth who has spent more than twenty years as a chef and line cook. We are both fairly critical diners, but she was also impressed with the food and service. We were greeted by a young server upon entering. She brought us menus and water, as well as answered a few questions we had about the various dishes. Since neither of us had been there before, we decided to get the meat mezo combination which included two large kaftas (the size of bratwursts), hummus, baba ganoush, tabouli, four falafels, two stuffed grape leaves, large serving of rice, and unlimited fresh pita . . . . all for $23.99!We came to the restaurant very hungry and we left over full . . . . and we had enough leftovers for another meal at home. This was an enormous amount of delicious food for two people. As for the food, it was exceptional. Unlike some Middle Eastern restaurants that serve fairly bland dishes, the food at Aladdin’s is very flavorful and well-spiced. You can tell everything is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Here are my impressions of the food:Kafta: very good and well seasoned.Hummus: good, nice and creamy with enough tahini and lemon to make it interesting.Baba Ganoush: excellent, one of the best versions I have ever eaten.Tabouli: bursting with lemon and other spices . . .perhaps the best I have ever eaten.Falafels: slightly overcooked, but much better seasoned than than falafels at other places.Stuffed Grape Leaves: some of the best I have ever eaten, lots of lemon and spices.Rice: nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked.Pita Bread: freshly made and still warm from the oven.Additionally, the service was very good. The server was friendly and attentive without being cloying. The manager stopped by the table twice to check on the food and service: he was warm and professional. If you are looking for fresh, well-prepared Middle Eastern food, I don’t think you can go wrong at Aladdin’s Cafe. I highly recommend the meat mezo combination platter. It’s a terrific assortment of food at a great price.

Amaze. Yummy yummy and yummy. The owner cooks and sometimes her mom or husband or sisters help cook. Need I say more? Doesn’t get more homemade than that. Very authentic Syrian food (many know it as Lebanese). Definitely the best, and I’ve tried them all from Gresham to Beaverton. This place is a must! Don’t let the location fool you. I suggest their signature hummus or muhamara… Delish! Foodies dream come true. Did I mention they make fresh pita bread? I can go on forever

We Loved it!. Four of us had dinner at the Aladdin Cafe last night, and every single item we ordered was wonderful. The place was very clean and neat, service was more than adequate, and (to be redundant) the food was excellent! Hope folks aren’t put off by the two bad reviews that I just read…I disagree with those reviews completely.

Going downhill. Something has gone wrong with this place. We sent several times when it first opened-and found the food quality and taste very enjoyable. The last couple times it has been mediocre at best–what does it take to serve freshly cooked rice that is warm? Service was friendly but had to be reminded several times to bring silverware. Won’t go back since we have Hoda in the area too.

The one other bad review on here echoes some of my bad experience. Bad bread (more like an uncooked tortilla), slow & forgetful server, wrong order, no utensils. Not going back. 🙁

Very Tasty. This place is tucked out of the way but is worth seeking out. The food is good and reasonably priced. Their vegetarian appetizer platter is very good, and comes in a size for one person or two. Their kabob entrees are good but could be a little more generous in the amount of meat you get. They compensate with a lot of rice, but that’s not exactly as satisfying.Indoor space is small and sparse, with a few additional tables outside under an awning if it’s not too hot.

BAD!!. The 2 person Veggie Mazza Platter was more the size for one person. My one cold Falafel & one warm one made no sense to me. The girl said she would bring out the bread while we waited 5-10 minutes staring at our food, waiting. Since you need the bread to eat it, not good. Then she brought the soup for 2 (which i noted that we we would be splitting) and she brought only one spoon. I also has to find my own fork which was not at the table or given to us. The food was also served on the ugliest plate ever: a JAIL TRAY!! (if your unfamiliar, it’s just like those school lunch trays you had in grade school, only stainless steel). The food was simply not that good tasting, So, I would Highly reccomend bypassing this place and going to Nicholas on MLK Blvd, Sorry Aladdin, if you cost half the price you might be worth it. Actually, NO!!
