The food was excellent, however I would say $4-5 over priced. $27 for vegetarian gnuddi? Nah. $22, sure. Gladly. The pork my man ordered wasn't trimme…

By chance, the owner of The Factory picked up three total strangers and dropped us off near this gem of a restaurant. After glancing through the front door glass the decision was made to eat at DOC. Phenomenal food, great wine – suggested by a service staff beyond compare. This evening was one I’ll never forget. DOC is top 10 on my list.
DOC is….interesting. First hint of this is walking straight through the kichen on way to your table. Our party of four subscribed to the sampler, complimented by the wine pairing sampler. I cannot recommend this option when there are four of you – it ends up just plain confusing by the end of the night and admittedly a bit contrived. Passing all the wine glasses and meal plates around the tavle became downright dizzying by end of night. The food was good, better than the similarly organized servings at Navarre, but not great. For many, myself included, this will be the most expensive meal you ever have at $100 per head (incl wine and tip). Not gonna to rate like / don’t like since it is relly your call. As a romantic getaway for two, I’d consider a second visit. With a larger group, I’d definitely look elsewhere. Oh, the deserts were absolutely great. If we could just show up for chocolate cake and coffee…
All I can say is the service and the food outstanding
DOC is intimate dining at its best. I can’t believe I haven’t been here sooner! Being a foodie myself, I take pride in knowing the best kept secrets in Portland as far as restaurants go, but I hadn’t been to DOC. The service was perfect, the food was amazing.. truffles surrounding Kale lasagna with a fried egg on top and risotto with Myer’s lemon and Dungeness crab. The flour-less chocolate cake brought the perfect ending to a perfect meal.
Like having a friend cook you dinner at his house – who’s a professional chef.. Dang. We biked by this place and it looked cute, so we stopped, grabbed an outside table, ordered the 5-course tasting menu for $50 each…and were promptly blown away. Each course was better than the last. The last time we had an experience like this was in France. Service was phenomenal, wine list was unique and reasonably priced, and oh did I mention the food was stunning? I’ve never had better risotto, the albacore dish was perfectly cooked, and even the panna cotta was great – and I usually don’t even like panna cotta. When we paid the bill and got up to leave, the chef (who cooks in a tiny kitchen right inside the door – seriously , you walk behind him when you go into the restaurant!) actually came out and thanked us for coming. Wow. I just can’t recommend this place highly enough.
DOC has become probably my favorite restaurant in Portland. I love the small personal setting and the food is amazing. The wine selection is good and really reasonably priced. We spent an evening there with our entire family just before Christmas and they all thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Highly recommended!
