Good Falafels. My wife and I come to this little place regularly. Being vegetarian, I always order the falafel gyro, which is very tasty. The falafels are made from scratch, and they taste consistently great every time. Though the gyro comes with fries inside, you can elect to omit them. The assortment of salad and sauce additions always taste fresh; and since you add them yourself, you can mix and match as much or as little as you prefer. My wife always requests the lamb gyro, and I must admit the seasoning on the meat smells amazing.Seating is limited, but this place never seemed to be designed as a large sit-down restaurant. It’s a place where you can get a quick tasty meal, or you can have your gyro wrapped up to go. The staff have always been very accommodating.I have read all of the reviews here, and I think some of them are totally missing the point of the place. This is not fine dining, even though the food is good. I think it fills a nice niche in Corvallis, and my wife and I will continue to frequent the place.

It’s clear the people who reviewed Alley Gyros poorly arn’t very familiar with traditional Greek fair. That and they may have gotten a bad day. The owner is quite savvy and helpful as are her regular staff. The food is excellent if not slightly overpriced; they make up for it with a rewards program for so many visits. Anyone who hasn’t tried this hole in the wall… Should!

Its Like The Subway of Gyros. Build your own Gyro…Er…kinda. Accessible via the second street parking lot of Grace Winds Music store; the pure white building with blue lettering, Alley Gyros, stands out like a sore thumb (but a nice sore thumb). When my sister and I walked in (part of our sandwich tour) I was shocked at how small the place is. I dont really know what all was on the menu because I came for one reason and one reason only…lamb gyros! I promptly ordered a lamb gyro while my less adventurous sister ordered the pork gyro (to be fair, she has heard me say just try it, its good about 50,000 times to which is followed by her spitting the food into napkin). From the time we ordered it took four minutes and 37 seconds to get our food (my sister timed it…she is a biologist/weird). I received my piping hot gyro which consisted of a flat bread, lamp, and French fries. The lady at the counter then directed us to a pretty extensive Greek condiment bar. The bar included chopped tomato, chopped cucumber, Kalama olives, chopped romaine lettuce, jalapeos, red onion, cucumber tzatziki sauce, and a red pepper sauce. Though extensive, the addition of Feta Cheese would have been much enjoyed. The gyro was pretty good overall. The meat was good. The condiments were plentiful. The bread was chewy. And the price was fair ($7 for the lamb and $6 for the pork). Not the best I have ever had (Dorios in Portland) but it is certainly not the worst. This is a unique little spot and Im pretty sure its the only gyro place in Corvallis. If you are in the area, give em a taste!

Alley Gyros, Corvallis. I was only customer there. The person serving me was not helpful. I ordered a gyros plate with salad & feta to go and a lemonade. $10.00 for that When my order was given to me, another wait person had appeared, and gave it to me — a fkat greek bread with meat piled on top & small plastic cup with feta on a plastic (not a to-go) plate. When I said I ordered to go, I was given the same thing on a paper plate — no bag, no utensils, no napkins. When I asked about the salad, was told to just use the stuff in the relish trays. I would have had access to those, if I hadn’t ordered the salad! I have NEVER received such bad service or so little for my money. I will never return!

Tenative Like. Ally Gyros ought to fit into the Corvallis scene just fine. Once they get their sea legs it should be a reliable snack spot. I wandered in Friday night to check things out. This place is pretty small mind you. Maybe 40 x 30 in total including storage and refrigeration. There is very limited seating inside and I did not see a bathroom. The kitchen is right behind the counter with the lamb rotisserie center view. Along the side wall is a small refrigeration unit with the toppings and condiments. Above that is their straight forward menu. Not a lot of options here if you don’t want a gyro….After a minute or two of taking it in a waiting my turn I ordered the Lamb, a drink & baklava. (Prominently displayed next to the cash register.) Now the drink is one size (16oz?) in a plastic cup. They ask if you want ice. This involves the cashier crossing to the other side of the kitchen past the cooks to fetch it. Then they ask you if you want a lid! I was bemused by all this half expecting her to ask if I’d like a straw! The fountain drinks are opposite the counter right next to the door as you walk in. I got my number, baklava (served in a white paper bag) and drink and sat next to the soda machine at the window bar facing the ally & 2nd street. I’m sure on a good night you could watch all the kids lined up for the bar across the way and the results of said endeavors! The place was busy with curious folks and a slightly overwhelmed staff of three. The cashier truely has an inefficient job here having to cross paths with both the cooks and customers to get ice and side orders from the toppings fridge. I’ll give her credit though cause she was smiling the whole time. Eventually my number was called and I opted to skip the toppings for now. Apparently they serve all the gyros topped with fresh fries here. (I saw the tub of potatoes in the corner.) They are rather greasy as I made the mistake of sitting mine down once and some of it escaped the paper wraps making it’s way to the counter. You may want a couple spare napkins here which are coincidentally located next to the cash register. Very difficult to grab after the fact when people are ordering. But I digress… As you can guess the gyro without toppings is rather plain but the meat was good and moist with minor pockets of gristle. It was surprisingly flavorful on its own. The fries are good too but not crisp. The pita bread holding it all together was soft & fresh with just enough chewiness. So they have some rough edges here and there. There were other cutomers slightly confused trying to grasp the concept. I think I caught at least one order screwed up. From what I’ve seen they have a good product. I didn’t overhere anyone complaining. The palce was packed with young and old alike. Once the newness wears off and folks know what to expect this place ought to be just fine. I’ll make it a point to go back in a couple months or so.
