Very nice!. Great atmosphere, great food, right on the river. I like that you can see the kitchen cooking your food. I would recommend if you are staying in Corvallis.
Terrible Restaurant – Overpriced. After eating at Big River this past week, I am not quite sure why this restaurant is still in business. The food was beyond awful, and the service was terrible right from the start. The hostesses seemed completely clueless, the bartender, Micah, was a complete snob and beyond unprofessional. I happen to see the owners, drinking Coors light, and they were unbelievably rude to the staff, making my wife and I very uncomfortable. If you are looking for a nice meal in Corvaillis, look elsewhere. There are plenty of restaurants that are far superior to Big River, and at a far better price.
Dislike it AND Like it. People around here LOVE this place but I’m not sure why. Likes: fun area of town. Interesting interior. Good for out of town visitors, I guess. Noisy in a fun sort of way. I’ve heard some of the entrees are good although I haven’t found those myself. Best of all: dessert and they open up their doors for the poor on Thanksgiving. Dislikes: it’s an overpriced mad house of mass produced food.
Lovely food, but always busy and can take a while for your meal.
A+ menu, high hopes, tough steak. While visiting Corvallis, I came here with colleagues for dinner. We really liked the location on the river and the menu looked very interesting. This would be a good place to bring a date.I arrived early and had a beer in the bar. The feel of the place is upbeat with a fun flair. The beer selection was fairly decent but I was put off by the bar tender’s arrogant attitude. He actually gave me my ticket after I had two drinks of my beer – which was odd. I will just go to one of the many pubs in town if I want to drink in the future. After the bar experience, I joined my party for dinner. The menu had some interesting items that seemed thoughtfully put together. I ordered the the NY strip steak. The menu said it was dry-aged. etc. The flavors were fantastic! The sides were outstanding. However, the steak was so chewy, I sincerely could not eat it. I expect dry-aged beef to be really tender. This was not. I have made much more tender steaks at home. Again, the flavors were on point. I got a dessert to go. It was a multi-layered chocolate cake. Looked pretty. Cost was 8 bucks. Meh.. it was not really worth the purchase. The service was outstanding. The waitress was helpful. I think I would go back here to give it a second chance because the menu looks so good. I would not order a meat again, however. My overall impression is this place is a hit or miss kind of restaurant.
Drove up from Eugene. Worth the drive! food as great as you could get in San Francisco!
Delicious!. I love Big River for their happy hour. Great drink specials and yummy food! I highly recommend the Spicy Pasta for the Corn Fritters. YUMMM! Also desserts are great. Bartenders and wait staff also very nice.
