I ordered the ribs and my son ordered a burger. The ribs were cold, overcooked, the hush puppies were burnt and tasted of old grease. The coleslaw was overdressed and soggy. My son’s burger was way over cooked and the egg on top was hard cooked, no runny yolk. We had spent the day at the coast and were hungry! My dish was inedible. The waitress even admitted that the hush puppies were way over cooked. She took them back and had them replaced ( they were burnt again)! The manager was nice and apologized. They comped my dish and my beer, which was appropriate and appreciated. The beer was good, although I think it was imported . The waitress and manager were nice enough, but for the overpriced poor food and cramped surroundings, I will take my money elsewhere.
Block 15 is a really fun place to eat at. The Rosemary fries are delish and the food is pretty good. They make homemade rootbeer that is quite tasty, too.
Local Gem on the bone. Gotta go for the ribs. Keeping them as special items two nights a week makes it a treat. Great fries. I don’t always go for the cornbread to concentrate on the ribs. Brew pub provides lots of choices for libations and can affect atmosphere. Sometimes the structure of a place just makes it noisy, especially when at capacity. Ribs have been consistent for several years now, choice in sauces short and to the point, no problem there. I do run on to people who don’t care for B-15 however I am willing to put up with a lot for good ribs! One thought – the coleslaw. Really. Get that bell pepper out of the coleslaw. No one in their right mind puts something so obnoxious as raw bell pepper in coleslaw. Which is why I ask for it to be excluded from my rib order. Slaw is cabbage, carrot and dressing – period. Ribs – gold star.
I think I have found a way to enjoy it here…. I don’t order any beer! It’s sad to say but I have yet to taste a beer here I enjoy. I was invited to a small birthday party and after tasting the Ridgeback Red I selected iced tea for a beverage. The food was much better than my previous experience and I would suggest sitting downstairs given the choice. (Unless you like to sweat, then I’d sit upstairs.)Even though I’m not fond of the beer here I can’t really knock em’. I even heard a solid rumor they’ll be opening a second location next year. They must be on the right track.14 Aug, 2013Ho Hum. I really can’t too excited about Block 15. My brother and I decided to give them another try after a few years had past by and I honestly can’t see what all the fuss is about. I felt my BMT (bacon, mozzarella, tomato and hazelnut pesto on grilled sourdough) Sandwich was overpriced at $9.99 although I did enjoy the soup. (Dill Potato?) The seasonal Raspberry Wheat beer was also sub-par. As I remember it was borderline sour. My brother had the Pulled Pork Sandwich he said was just okay but he too liked his soup. (Maybe we should stick with the soup?!) The staff is their but they weren’t really on the ball. We were seated upstairs which was hotter and would be horrible if you any taller. (Lower ceilings & beams) I won’t go so far as to give them a thumbs down but I think they live on the college crowd here which is fine.
Yum. We got in late Sunday and found this place. We loved it. It was fine for our Paleo friends and we had great service.
Good food, friendly staff. Loved the selection of beers on tap – plenty to choose from. Nothing to dislike about the food but also nothing memorable.
My experience was a marginal ‘like’. I’m assigning the less than glowing review to bad ordering on my part. Nachos, marginal at best. The fish & chips ordered by my son, awesome. I’ll go again
