Oh my gosh good! The tots are perfect. We didn’t know they had outdoor seating and next time that’s where we’ll sit. The produce was very fresh.
Loved the food and beer service was okay. Generally go to block 15 but I was informed it would take over an hour to have a seat last saturday so they suggested I go to mcmenamins downtown. Had to wait twenty minutes to be sat, another ten minutes for order to be taken, another fifteen minutes for food and drinks to arrive. The food and the beer were great, service seemed lacking. They were cordial but appeared preoccupied with the other tables. Food and beer were quality, waiter(s) were nice. Really looks like they need more workers but other than that no complaints. Menu was spot on for a brewpub type restaurant. Try the steak sandwich and cajun tots with hammerhead its what i had and was very well cooked.
Great food, good service. The place seems a bit understaffed, but it seems like they work really hard to keep every table happy. I came in with 5 others on a busy night (every table appeared to be taken, with 4 groups waiting), we were sat within 10 minutes, and had our drinks within 3 minutes of placing our order. Three of us had the Portland Dip, which was delicious. My wife and her friend ordered a Hummus Plate to share, and they raved about it. All in all, I’d have to say this is one of the friendliest and cleanliest McMenamins establishments I’ve visited. The entire staff seemed a bit thinly stretched, but eager to please.
Macaroni & Cheese with Dungeness Crab. I had this Special last night. The minute I saw it on the menu I knew I had to try it. Who would have thought to put crab in Mac & Cheese?!It was a fantastic combination. I highly recommend giving this a shot. There was a creamy, cheesy sauce that was just perfect. Well worth the 30 minute wait for a table.As is the case with most McMenamin’s, the service was spotty — not horrible. But we keep going back – Cajun Tater Tots call me.
