Too Much Gristle for this Muchacho…. Located in the old Bobs Burgers building, Rivas is another cookie-cutter taco shop that follows the pattern of Muchas Gracias, Rigoburtos, and the like; offering several tacos, burritos, nachos, and various other fast food type dishes. This morning I ordered a Carne Asada giant Burrito ($5.50) and a small drink ($1.00). In less than a minute from ordering, my semi-warm burrito was waiting on the counter. The burrito I received had good weight and girth, and had me excited to begin my chow down. As I began to tear into my breakfast, I hit bite after bite of gristle and fat. By the time I finished my meal I had a miniature mountain of gristle and chewy bits piled on my yellow wrapping paper. Im not sure if this was fluke or if Rivas uses a significantly lower quality of meat that her brothers in arms. Based on todays visit, dont bother giving em a taste.

Worst food in town. Got a stomach ache from the microwaved fish that was hard. Tortillas were old and hard. Salsa was cheap and tasteless. Beans are made with pig fat/lard. Not suitable for vegetarians. Called to tell them about the bad fish they did not care. Worst place in town I have been.

Terrible. It’s pretty hard to accomplish making food that’s both bland and disgusting at the same time, but this place really nailed it. The person who calls this place authentic mexican must either work there or has only had mexican at this place. The guacamole tasted like it was just avocado and sour cream blended together, then slopped on chips and topped with cold cheddar cheese (which is what everything else was topped with too). Prices were reasonable, but I could have gotten chain fast food mexican for half the price and similar or better quality. Definitely avoid this one.

Diablo burrito without tarter sauce is a wonderful thing. Rice vs bean based so much lighter. Make sure you get limes and hot sauce to go with it!

Riva’s is simply the best Mexican food, period. While the decor is less than desirable, drive through if you don’t feel like hanging out. They consistently put out great dishes, no matter when you go or who is cooking. Favorite dishes: all tacos, all burritos and all enchiladas 🙂 Just go and support theese folks. They do it right every time at a great price and at all hours….
