One of the best sandwich shops in town. When I first moved to Corvallis, finding the best sandwich shop was important, because I like sandwiches. I don’t bother with Subway or Quiznos. I had hope for Big Town Hero, but that was the worst BTH experience I’ve ever had. Then my boyfriend and I checked out University Hero. The bread is made fresh everyday and it’s delicious, their soups are all made from scratch and they’re also all awesome as well as their side salads. It’s hard to find a place that makes anything from scratch today and you can really taste the quality in their food. Now I will say they have forgotten to put cheese on my sandwich a couple times, but they correct their mistakes and the girls who work there are friendly, so is the owner. They’ll get my business because they have quality food and service and they’re locally owned. Atmosphere, well it is super OSU oriented, as it should be with its name, sometimes the smaller concrete tables are difficult to get comfortable at because of the giant base but its not a big deal. It’s always super quiet during lunch time on the weekdays and they have ESPN on for the boyfriend.

Have been a loyal University Hero customer for years. Love the sandwiches and as a die hard Beaver fan… LOVE all the old sports pics, PAC-10 helmets, and murals adorning the walls. We once ordered one of their party subs for a baby shower. Have a hilarious picture of it on top of the car, as it was nearly as long as the vehicle itself.
Onion Bread. I liked this place during non-game days. It’s quiet and you can just eat peacefully. The sandwich was good – just ask for less lettuce though. The onion bread is my favorite, it goes well with roast beef. It’s a small place and not too exciting, but I like it.

A great sandwich shop run by university students with upbeat atmosphere. Their bread is to die for and their sandwiches aren’t bad either, or expensive. Costs about as much as subway but tastes loads better.
