I love coming here and getting a fancy meal at half the normal cost. If you can get through the hoops of reservations then $9 for lunch is a screaming deal here. Go later in the school session for best service and food. Parking is a challenge but free if you can find a spot.

To Marmonk88: I suspect that the Oregon Culinary Institute students are learning to cater to a much more sophisticated palate than yours. I suggest you walk to Burnside and 20th for your tasteless pizza at Papa Murphy’s. As for me, I will continue to sing the praises and sample the product of the cooking of the students at OCI! Bravissimo!

You got to be kidding menu.. Umm, maybe hunters and fishermen would like it, but these choices (except for the pizza) on late winter lunch menu 2015 are not for me:Grilled VenisonConfit Duck Leg Sherried Mussels and Clams Braised Rabbit PastaPizza of the DayI don’t eat bambi or bunny rabbits or this kind of stuff and well, if I’m gonna get pizza I’ll just go to a pizza place. I hope they have more normal food in the Spring.

Great Meal at Portland Culinary Institute. As a gift for donating to Portland Kitchen we received a certificate for a couple of free lunches at OCI. We took our parents on Tuesday and it was amazing! Knowing that these were all students made the incredible meal we were served was that much more special. After being seated, we were served our beverages and bread basket of two different rolls that were excellent. Next was my roasted beet salad fresh, unique, and really flavorful and my wife enjoyed the White Bean and Escarole soup as well. We had both the Bouillabaisse and Lamb Loin Chops that would have rivaled entrees ANYWHERE. I was concerned about ordering the Lamb, as I like my meat rare, but it was perfect and seasoned well. The NW Bouillabaisse had a beautiful saffron broth, lots of perfectly cooked seafood with the most beautifully plump mussels we’ve ever seen. Lastly was dessert……….the OCI Chocolate Dream Torte is just that….dreamy. A creamy, dark chocolate fudge like wedge that melts in your mouth. Fantastic. All for less than $10.00 per person; what’s not to love. And for the people that complain about the service; take a breath and enjoy the experience. These are young adults, with smiles on their faces, trying to bring you the very best experience they can. We loved our food and the experience and will definitely be going back. You will too.

Impressive!. The students were servers and chefs. Fantastic dinner with multiple courses for a great price. Try the OCI Dream Torte for a chocolate overdose.

Wow! Impressed!. They offer a fine dining, multiple course meal for a reasonable price. Both lunch and dinner seatings available and their menu changes seasonally. We were amazed and literally squirming in our chairs at how delicious and wonderful our meal was. Our food was carefully prepared and presented, the time, effort and attention given to each dish was apparent in both the way everything looked as well as how it tasted. Delightfully awkward server was also a student and she was impressively educated and full of information on both the ingredients that went into each dish as well as the details of how things were prepared. Wonderful wonderful experience and we will definitely be back. Also a great idea for entertaining out of town guests… a Clark-Lewis type of meal minus the heart attack inducing prices.
