I’ve been there for breakfast before, but went there for dinner tonight and had the prix fixe menu (yes, they are now open for dinner on the weekends). The blue cheese dressing on the salad is homemade – it was so good I wanted to drink it straight. The sausage and butternut squash risotto, which was the main course, was out of this world. And, of course, the waffle dessert was a scrumptious way to end the meal. Highly recommend!
Lovely breakfast and brunch nook in SW. The waffle tasters they share before the meal are an excellent predecessor of what’s to come. The waffles are so rich and tasty and the iced tea was uniquely refreshing. The restaurant now requires 20% gratuity to care for their waitstaff, but the team is so friendly and professional, it’s a deserved addition. Saturday at noon, we were able to get a table in 20 minutes – definitely a gem worth trying.
Savory and sweet waffles are featured on the menu but there are also various scrambles to select. I like that you may have mini waffle in lieu of toast. I had a mini banana nut batter waffle that was very tasty. The place got pretty crazy by 10:00AM with a waiting list. Our server was efficient and I liked the space and the Hillsdale neighborhood.
Cozy and fun place to eat at. Delicious waffles and good service. This is a good place for couples, friends, or family. Make sure to try their chicken waffles…:)
Awesome food and service, except the owner. I never write reviews but the food and all of the servers (except the owner) were excellent so I’d like this place to be successful. if I had one suggestion I’d say the owner should run the restaurant and not wait on tables. the owner took my order and in one and a half hours never stopped by again. didn’t ask how it was, didn’t offer me more coffee, didn’t bring the check, even though she passed by me a thousand times, and I am a friendly and approachable person. if it weren’t for the other waitresses who were friendly when I ask for things I wouldn’t be back despite the great food! good luck and please take some service tips from the reviews I’m reading
A new, worth-the-visit breakfast spot in Hillsdale that doesn’t have lines yet!. The Hillsdale neighborhood shopping center is so lucky that Gigi’s Cafe opened here – just what we needed. They are still finishing their interior design, but they are ready to serve diners. This morning I tried a Liege-style waffle with whipped chevre and pistachios, drizzled with just the right amount of real maple syrup. Absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to introduce friends to this place, as we like to support local, independently-owned businesses. Friendly and attentive service. Coffee was fine, but I’m an espresso drinker so hoping they will buy a machine someday. If you like to avoid waiting in line at breakfast places in Portland, try this place, it has a refreshing and well-designed menu. Those who are sensitive to cold may want to wear a sweater….this is likely due to the large front wall of windows…. I prefer to wear a sweater and welcome the morning light instead.
