Incredible. This place is truly amazing!! My husband and I set in the gardens which was a romantic beautiful ambience. The food is out of this world and the service is impeccable! One of the best dining experiences ever!
This place is a true gem of a location. The perfect venue for meeting friends and family for great times, in a phenomenal setting and great food!Be sure to ask The owner, Mike Caldwell, about his always excellent side selection of great wines which shares with a smile and friendly recommendation for pairing. We highly recommend the Thai Crab Cakes or Roasted Garlic and Goat Cheese to start your meal then on to the Ribeye steaks, Racks of Mustard Crusted Lamb or the fresh fish special! You can’t go wrong here with outside dining under the trees on over an acre of garden. If you consider good food on a small table on a sidewalk in Portland a good deal then try the real thing hidden in the trees above the Gorge!! Well worth the trip!!
This is one of my favorite places in the Columbia Gorge! The owner Mike and his wonderful serving staff have always been so inviting! The food is fantastic and the setting is romantic–any time of the year! Thank you!
Excellent. I brought my daughter and her boyfriend for dinner. I lived in Hood River for 28 years, but have been in New Mexico for the last two and am here to visit. I suggested Stonehedge because I always loved the service and the food. I used to live just down the road when the former owners had it. We were waited on by Mike Caldwell the owner. I had the Thai Chicken, my daughter had the Ravioli, but her boyfriend did not like anything on the menu……so Mike whipped him up a goat cheese grilled sandwich with tomato and sausage sauce which he loved. We finished off with sharing a flaming Creme Brulee. The ambiance was excellent.
Mothra Says….. Good Service, That’s It This Visit.. I had gone online and looked at the menu for Stonehedge Restaurant on Cascade Ave for an upcoming trip to the Hood River area and called to make the reservation. K & I arrived in the restaurant in a beautiful wooded and garden setting on a Saturday night. It was not very crowded so we had our choice of tables and chose a window view of the garden. With a rather large menu with a larger wine and champagne tablet as well, we asked our server to place our champagne we brought with us in a bath of ice water. K ordered an appetizer for us: the roasted garlic and goat cheese with pine nuts on crostini. Wow. I am a garlic fan and cook with garlic 2-3 times per week. However, this was probably the best I have had in years. For dinner, K chose the Caesar salad then, panko crusted lemon chicken with mashed potatoes. I had the soup of the day. a cup of fish soup then, seafood linguini in an alfredo cream sauce. Coffee rounded out dinner. This restaurant is difficult to review. Although the service was excellent, not rushed, and the gardens beautiful, overall the cuisine was just ok. The garlic and goat cheese was superb. But my seafood linguini was just fair and the cup of fish soup was bland; K did not like her breaded lemon chicken, nor was her caesar salad particularly satisfying. We may be back next time to try some Hor d’ Oeuvres in an attempt to sample other items from the menu.. Mothra says.. 2.6 of 5.0
Romantic Escape. This place is a must see. It’s really hidden back in the woods, but the property is worth the drive in. The day we were there was a slow day so our service was great. In the summer they can seat up to 200 people outside, so if it’s busy expect it to be somewhat slow. The food was great and the dessert was even better.Come ready to relax, tap sips of wine and enjoy the evening. eatingmywaythruportland.com
Dessert is YumOooooo! Service is OK, can be a little slow but food is worth the wait.
