Stopped in again today…………. Because the dainty Sandwich I had at the Courtyard Coffeehouse (in Dallas) didn’t quite do it for me.Again, I had their Tacos de Tripa. They were just as good as I remembered. This is the only place I’ve found that includes Pinto Beans, in the Taco.I especially love the fact that the grill is right in front of you. You can observe the preparation process from start to finish. This young lady is deft in her economy of movement. It’s like watching a well practiced and choreographed dance! Two Tacos and a completely guileless performance for three bucks! Beat that!31 Jul, 2011Another bodega blue ribbon!. For the past year or so, I’ve been trying these places just as fast as I can find them. I have yet to stub my toe. They all (so far) have offered uniformly high quality, cheap and authentic Mexican food. This one was no exception. An olfactory meltdown assailed me when I pulled into the parking lot next to a big black grill belching the nearly irresistible aroma of Roasting Chicken. But I was on a two eatery mission to do Tacos, so I stuck to the plan. I ordered one Tripa and one Lengua Taco ($1.50 each) and camped at one of their communal picnic tables, in the shade of their awning, with a couple of other fellows. The Meat fillings were excellent but the Tacos deviated from the customary in that they included Grilled Onions and a few Pinto Beans. They were double wrapped with store-bought Tortillas and were served with Lime wedges and Radishes. They were very good (especially the Tripa), but having been spoiled with two incredible fresh hecho a mano Tortilla wrapped Tacos (one Birria and one Cabeza) just minutes before at the new Jimenez Mexican Restaurant down the street, it’s hard to give these their due.
