Great Italian at a distance.. We found this a great Italian Restaurant. Food was great as well as the service. Prices were also acceptable. We will drive back to this place again.. 100 miles..round trip.

Miss Gracie. If you’re looking for the heavy red sauce and cheese of Southern Italian cooking do not go to Mangiare. If you like the lighter flavors of Northern Italian cooking head there now. Well cooked pasta not drowning in flour thickened sauces. A nightly special – three lamb chops (not overcooked!) on a bed of pasta with mushrooms and fresh tomatoes. Tables nicely spaced for privacy. Generous servings. Reasonable prices.

Great service! Terrible food.. My husband and I were very excited after reading reviews. Finally a yummy date night place in our small town! We were promptly greeted by a very sweet waitress. Our waiter was cheerful, attentive and worked to elevate our experience. The edible part of our journey began, however, with stale bread. My husband ordered the Pasta Classico, while I was thrown by the outdated and cheap decor and chose a safer route- the cheese ravioli. If there is any dish to choose when trying to give a resturant a chance, it’s that one. Simple and safe. A dish that really allows for the pride of an Italian reaturant (which should be the sauce) to shine. I knew immediately upon viewing my plate that I was about to intake some frozen raviollis, but the dish’s traditional plating left some hope that the sauce may still be worth eating. The sauce had almost no flavor- aside from an oberwhelming acidic taste usually associated with canned tomatoes. My husband’s angel hair stuck together with loosey melted, bagged Parmesan and was topped with (frozen) gummy shrimp and a drizzling of white wine. Our waiter was quick to refill our beverages and immediately brought us our check, bringing also boxes for our largely unfinished meals. He was truly wonderful, along with the waitress who sat us. Both of them genuinely focused on the customer journey. Will not return due to almost dreadfully plain food with TV dinner quality, but truly enjoyed the staff!

Terrific Meal!. Had dinner with friends from France here tonight and we were all very happy with our selections. Portions were generous, quality of each meal was outstanding, good wine selection, and very reasonable prices. Friendly service in a busy but quiet restaurant where we could talk and enjoy our meal without shouting across the table. Will go back again soon.

A well kept secret well worth the drive. I live 14 miles from this wonderful restaurant and have other Italian fare much closer to home. I have dined there probably about 8 times and am never disappointed. It’s a place that I’m never hesitant to take friends. Every meal has exceeded my expectations. I’ve had the New York Steak, Baked Sausage with pasta, a seafood with pasta dish, and ohter pasta dishes. All have been wonderful.Service is always good, and the patio dining on a warm summer night with cocktails is a special treat. Worth a special trip to Independence.

Just ordered to-go. When picked the food up, didn’t get greeted, and when I was actually talked to, no eye contact and was rude. The food. I got the meatball sub and the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The Alfredo, if you’re expecting creamy flavorful pasta, that’s not what you’ll get. Olive garden is better. It was super greasy, buttery and WAY too much parsley. The chicken inside the fettuccine had absolutely no flavor except salt. And a lot of it. The meatball sub wasn’t terrible. The bread was a brick but once I got to the smashed sausage (not meatballs..) it wasn’t terrible. The best thing was the bread. Crispy, garlicky, and cheesy. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to eat here.

Best restaurant in the Monmouth-Independence community. Best Italian restaurant south of Nonna Emilia (Beaverton). Sometimes the bread seems a bit dry, but everything else has always been great.
