Positive reviews prove true. When we walked in we were immediately welcomed and after a minutes wait we were seated. Our waitress had a smile on her face the whole time and was happy to answer questions I had. The girlfriend complimented her on her awesome earrings. They were a couple superhero lego guys! Awesome! The restaurant itself had a cut and paste Italian restaurant look to it, but being in an older building made it great to look at. It had huge windows looking outside and inside had these old ten foot tall doors. Just cool to look around at the old building. We were told our order would be a little long because of a large group got there before us. It would have been nice to have been told that before we ordered, but she did inform us which I appreciate. The girlfriend and I both ordered from the lunch special menu which most were around $7.00 which comes with bread and a salad. When ordering you get an option from a house, Cesar, spinach, and a caprese salad. Both the girlfriend and I ordered the caprese. The caprese salad was quite good. The dressing was not overly overloaded with vinegar. It was just a slight vinegar flavor with the oil. A healthy amount of mozzarella cheese was in the salad. This was actual chunks of cheese and not just bagged shredded cheese. The only downside were the tomatoes were not ripe, but what can one expect in November. Lastly, it was topped with sun-dried tomatoes and olives which made the salad. I only wish it had more sun-dried tomatoes! Our meal did take a little while longer, but from the group they had I was surprised it was that short of a wait. I ordered the salsiccia arrabbiata and the girlfriend the polla gorgonzola. My dish had an tasty sausage and the oil picked up that flavor and covered the noodles with it, giving a light sausage flavored noodle. Topping it off with small chunks of ham and red chilli flakes, made a great dish. The polla gorgonzola reeked of gorgonzola and in this guy’s opinion is awesome. Add in well cooked chicken, it made for a good dish. In addition, both dishes’ noodles were cooked great – al dente. Lastly we got a gelato for desert. Not sure if they make it there or not, but it didn’t seem to be a pre-packaged deal. The biggest thing that stuck out in my mind was the chocolate bits in it. They were deliciously bitter, but offset by the sweetness of the cream. Enjoyable dish.Overall I was very happy and enjoyed my lunch with the girlfriend. Another nice place to go to in Independence. So far this town I like!
Extreme cuisine!. My husband and I found this place awhile back and can’t say enough. The bread melts in your mouth and every dish we have tried has pleased us extremely! Greatly priced and great service!
